NE1 order the moto Q yet?
This particular CNN review suggests that, unless you are going for sleek, slim and lightweight...stick with the Treo for now...

I will never buy Motorola ever again. Their software is sub-par - even if it is MS Windows Mobile based, Motorola still has some crap programmers.
Post a review when you get it Chief, and I hope it works well for you.

Ive been using it for about a month now and unless you are used to a blackberry style wheel, I would suggest against it. Other then the size and the BT audio there is nothing it has that any other device does not. It is not touch screen and when released from verizon it is not going to be EVDO till a software flash comes out. Dont get me wrong, to some people the size makes up for the downfalls but for me having a touch screen is very important.

Yeah, I've been using it for two weeks now. I don't think the touchscreen is such a big deal esp. since the contacts list from Outlook is loaded right into the phone on first sync. After that, just use voice recognition to dial. Simple. The phone quality is excellent. I use it w/ a plantronics voyager bt headset in my convertible w/ no problems at either end of the conversation (hearing/being heard). The camera takes decent enough pics, the phone is small and easily fits into a top pocket of a dress shirt or shorts pocket hardly letting me know it's there. I use the text msging a lot and really don't need much else other than the things I've talked about above. I like the phone quite a bit actually.
Damn I was gonna get one too. My US Cellular contract ends on the 15th of July and its time I stretched my legs from my V710 to something better....this will be my first smartphone by the way.
Do you guys who own it recommmend it for beginnners? I'm more of a Windows guy myself so the announcement that other carriers will have the Palm versions didn't really excite me much

The lack of touchsceen is what I think is great about it. I have Samsung i730 and it annoys me that I can't use one hand to navigate through it. Or half the time I need to take the stylus out to navigate. One handed operation is important to me because most of the time I'm on the train standing up while commuting.
The only thing right now that annoys me with the Q is it won't have the MSFP (Microsoft Security Feature Pack) until the winter. This alone was suppose to make the Q a viable competitor to the Blackberry for our corporate users. So until then the Blackberry gets the nod.
I was going to get VZW and the Q, but was offered something I can't refuse from a friend with Cingular. I'm going to be getting out of my POS Nextel and into the Cingular 8125. My uncle has it and loves it, I just hope i'll be able to like it enough....It's the first pda phone i'd be getting, not used to it..
Cingular's service as well as Nextel's, sucks big time in this neck of the world. If I go from my office in suburban Bflo NY to downtown (10 miles) I lose a signal w/ Cingular and Sprint as well. I cannot tolerate losing service in a metro area so Verizon is the choice for me. As such, that limits my choices but I'm not a tech head when it comes to the phone, it is for calls first, pda second. Anything else is a bonus
so then, this phone does more than I really need it to.
I have a Q. I'm in my two week trial, and I have no reason to return it. With EVDO, the web is very quick. IE isn't very good though on it, but it's usuable.
I like the slim design. If you aren't used to a full keyboard (I'm not), it takes some getting used to since the buttons are so small.
I think if you need a phone first, and a PDA second, the Q is the phone for you. Great LCD screen, all your audio controls work seamlessly, voice quality is great. If you are a heavy PDA person, or very heavy email user, the blackberry is still probably the better choice.

glad to hear it is a good phone wiht added pda functions. I want to be able to sync my outlook with it to have my schedule with me but other than that i dont really need all the other pda functions. i might buy the data package to have access to the net too but even surfing with the scroll wheel didnt seem that bad in the store. so after reading this I think I will use my upgrade and pick this up this weekend.
Any updates from our fellow board members on how their Q has stacked up after a few months of use? Has it gotten better or worse?
I'm about to pull the trigger and switch to the big V. Currently I've trying to go through my company's discount program to see how much I can get off my bill (Enterprise Rent a Car)
As for the phone, I've found out some very cool things about it from Qusers.com and everythingq.com like hacking into Windows Moble 5 for high speed internet access on your home pc via blue tooth w/o verizon's internet charges and being able to use slingbox to watch live DVR Cable TV on it etc.
What do you guys think about the Q so far? From what I hear, I can't wait to get mine and start tapping into some of these features (especially since the internet's been down at my house for the past 2 weeks lol)

I just started work today with Enterprise. The HR lady told me there is no Verizon discount, but I'm on one of my parents Gov't discount, so it doesn't really matter.
I just got the Q yesterday. I don't really need it, but AR it was 100 bucks, they wanted more for some of the phones. I got the $45 data and the rep gave me 2k free text messages a month. Not a bad deal. In total with tax and my old man's discount, it's about 120-125 with 3 line family plan, 1 with unlimited data, 700 anytime minutes and the usual in network shit.
