LCD computer screens...
Does anyone one know much about them...I am about to get a new system and I dont know if I should go with a 17" LCD or keep my old 19" gateway. The one that I looked at is here.. http://www.adiusa.com/a700.html The price I got for this one is like around 500 or so. Is the picture quality going to worse than a regular one??

I have 15" LCDs and love them. They take up so much less desk space, draw a lot less power, and put out a lot less heat. But they don't saturate colors as well (bad if you're doing work with photos) and don't refresh as fast (bad for games). But for everything else, they're great. The good ones are very sharp and don't have geometry/convergence problems like CRTs.

I have a Viewsonic 18" Flat Panel and I play Medal of Honor and Battlefield 1942 just as good as my Hitachi Superscan 21" Monitor.
Buy a good one from a reputable company and you'll be ok.

Hey you guys, i found a hot deal on Dell LCDs.
It's too bad that I got one about a month ago already, a 1702FP with my Dimension system.
Buy *Two* 17" or Larger Dell Flat Panel Monitors, and Get "One" Free! Or Buy *Three* 15" DellTM Flat Panel Monitors, and Get "One" Free! So its like a groupbuy for those who can manage to get some friends in on it:
Details here:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...hreadid=910420
Note: you may readily see more firesales in the future from all retailers/e-tailers because of the declining price of LCD displays and newer sets with better features coming into the market.
---------------------
By the way, 1702FP and the 1900FP are highly rated Dell monitors that are "rebadged" Samsung 172t and 191t respectively. These are the ones to get! The 2000FP (21") and 1800FP (18") are older lcd models with inferior contrast, response time, brightness specs.

Ok so what are yalls thoughts on the one that I posted about at first. I am getting a new system throught my company and that is the screen I would get. I need to know fast if that particular one is good or not picture wise. It will be for home use so running some games, internet fun, and some minor work related stuff (nothing major). I dont know anything about the dpi's, the ratio all that stuff. So if someone could go into depth on how this one should compair to a older (maybe 4-5 years) 19" gateway CRT????

That LCD looks decent. The contrast ratio is a little low and their is no DVI input for higher end video cards. I have a Sceptre 19" and I highly recommend it. www.sceptre.com for comparison.
