Laptop battery replacement
My 4 year old Toshiba P105s6104 has been running like a champ for the past 4 years. The only thing I've had to replace so far is the DVD-RW drive which was simple as well as replacing the power cord about a year ago.
Now it looks like my battery is shot. It runs fine on AC power, but without the power plugged in, the laptop simply will not come on. Windows says its charging the battery and but it never goes above 0% so I'm am pretty sure the battery has reached its end of life.
Question does anyone have experience with laptop batteries that are not the manufacturer brand. Toshiba wants to charge $140 for a replacement and I'm not paying that much, I'll continue to use AC power before I pay that.
What are some good alternatives? I've looked a Duracell which seems like the best option so far, but I'm not sure of the rest as I have read stories that some of these manufacturers cut corners and the battery ends up catching on fire.

as far as ebay quality batteries??? i have one in my laptop right now to replace the one i got when i bought my dell, because it wasn't holding charge for more than an hour and half, the extended battery i got on ebay for $60 holds charge for 4-5 hours, plenty of time for me at school, i don't even bring my a/c adapter anymore.

I replaced my Lenovo laptop's battery with one from an Amazon vendor last summer. It cost around $60, IIRC, and might actually be a Lenovo OEM replacement; it works well, maybe better than the OEM when new.
