Where are you going in Asia? No GSM in Japan or Korea....

That's the best thing to do, instead of use that great Int'l roaming plan offered by your American carrier, just get prepaid sim-card in the country you go to. Or borrow a friends. The only downside is no one can call you if they don't know your [new] number.

 

didnt know AT&T locked the V600s. Cingular aint doing so.

 

at&t locks all their phones.

ken, i will be going to thailand, korea and the philippines. i know the philippines uses gsm(900) so i'll be able to use the phone there. thanks for the info on korea. not sure abt thailand.

 

It's been awhile since I been to Korea, they might have a GSM network there by now. Thailand definitely has one.

 

if u go ova to asia would the celly be cheaper than ova here?

you will need the usb data cable. takes 5 secs to do. i had to use xp cuz the drivers for win2k don't work.

 

i work for Cingular and all the tri-band/quad-band world phones are unlocked from the factory for Cingular.

 

Well, I got my V600 from AT&T but Cingular is now my serivice provider. I'm headed for Europe tomorrow and they will NOT help me unlock the phone.

(I'm assuming it's locked)

 

totally false. what cingular do you work for?

 

just to show you att chip + razr, v551, v220, v180

 

they have since changed the policy of shipping pre-unlocked phones. they were being shipped unlocked before they took over at&t.
