IPAD vs G-Tablet
IPAD vs G-Tablet
I went on a impulse and bought an IPAD yesterday. However after doing some more reading I was impressed by the Viewsonic G Tablet. Today I saw a good deal on the G tablet and picked one up too.
So now I have to decide which to keep, which to return. I just want to see Azine's opinion on how both of them would compare. Basically opening either of them and then having to return it would mean a 10%-15% restocking fee or having to sale it on Ebay to avoid the fee.
From what I have experienced, the IPAD is very easy to use and meets most of the what it will probably be used for. The G Tablet has a couple of things going for it that was hard to ignore, the Camera, Flash 10.1., however the display unit in Office Depot that I played with seemed to be spotty, and crashed a couple of times. I have read online that the out of box experience of Viewsonic is crappy at best and needs to be rooted to a vegan to get a good user experience. Having never owned an Apple or Android product I'm w/o any real experience on either of the platforms.
Decision ... decision..

I loved my viewsonic screen - until it died because they used cheap capacitors - b@#$@#'s
Freaking love my iphone - never thought i would own one - jailbreaking is the best, and even stock is great.
Keep in mind, its up to the manufacture to publish updates on Android (unless your comfortable with how-to's and xda dev's stuff)
friends say ipad is great.
ever concider a netbook?

I think for the price point a laptop would be more appropriate than a netbook.

Samsung's good too, but i'm not the biggest fan of there colour's, washed out a bit, lg's (the screens
) seem to have richer colours out of the box. they also make various lcd panels for apple products...

This looks pretty promising: http://www.archos.com/products/ta/ar...try=us&lang=en

I think 4:3 is a better all around ratio for a tablet screen. It's not best for widescreen movies but it's better than 16:9 for reading, surfing the web and most other uses for a tablet. Plus the iPad screen is ridiculously good looking. IPS, FTW!
I bought a G-Tablet, just to try and was disappointed by the screen. It has the worse viewing angles of any device i've used in the last 5 years.
Believe it or not, i purchased a Nook Color for my wife and hacked it to run standard android. Now the Nook is a dedicated android device, half the price of a Galaxy tab, and has a screen that just as good as the Ipad, if not better. She loves it.

Ipad is my first apple anything. Except for the fact that it wont do flash, it rocks. It's smooth, fluid and doesn't crash. I also just picked up my first droid anything (Eris) and am pretty impressed with its operating system.
So in conclusion...windows sucks

Galaxy S pad when larger sizes come out next year or wait for the new iPad. I'd just get a cheap laptop or expensive netbook at that price point though. I don't understand the need for a tablet beyond being used as a reader. Maybe do what someone else said and hack a nook to run android that would be kinda cool. Plus the nook and kindle both are easy on the eyes when reading text.
At this point the G-tablet is going back as it doesn't seem worth the risk. I still have a couple of more days to think on whether to keep it or return it and wait IPAD2 vs get a low end laptop.
The primary use of this unit will be web browsing, and also to be used by the kids as a reader, so laptops in the same price range could easily meet the need.

View sonic just clarified the reason for the recall. They said it wasn't because of a hardware defect but because it just flat out fucking sucks...... But hey, they're working on it!
