Hewlett-Packard: TouchPad News and Discussion Thread
The Touchpad is very nice. But at the original price point it wasn't going to compete with the iPad.
Which for some reason tablet makers don't get: if you want to have competing sales, you have to have a much more competitive price point. Imagine if these things had been priced to begin with at $200, for even a promotional introductory sale.

Ultimately that's what is going to cause me to switch to Android, the apps. While WebOS has a few, there's not even basic ones that I'm used to and rely on.
Perhaps that will change in the next couple of months as people see the new installed userbase, but chances are no.

2.3 is working it just hasn't been dumped yet. It appears that Qualcomm actually had an android tp themselves. It will likely be finished before they get their hands on said unit though.
The problem is getting it to work 100%. Cameras, sensors, etc.

The brief time I spent in the IRC channel I saw them talking about having to completely redesign the USB stuff so that it would work.
There's hundreds of thousands of tablets sold in the last week, I'd guess a fair minority of them will be ported over due to stability issues, ignorance, unwillingness or inability. There's still money to be made in WebOS, but it's up to someone to see it.
Depends on the apps, and the ease of converting current apps from droid/iphone over to webOS functionality. There is now a large market for webOS apps, but is the cost/benefit worth developing apps for that market.
Sucks. Sorry.
I don't plan to write essays or a novel with this thing

Ohh wait you can't because as far as I know l you can't edit word docs yet....

I think your best bet is to goto a bestbuy right at or a little before opening and see if they got any in. If not see if they can look up the sku number and see if there is any in transit to any other store nearby..
