I think you're getting a lot more worked up over this than I am. It's really not a big deal. I actually use Chrome sometimes and FF sometimes.

Just pointing out a gripe I have with Chrome, I naturally go to double click on the tab bar to open tabs because that's just what I am used to. It's a pain when a tab doesn't open and instead the window restores down.

luckily she didnt do anything and IE blocked the website from downloading anything.

just freaking installed windows on that thing like 2 weeks ago.

anyways. Shes using IE8.
i want to put chrome on it
but she doesnt like tabbed browsing, she likes to have 1 window open per website.
is that possible on chrome?

what about in safari or something.
maybe i should get her a mac...

why wouldnt you be able to open up multiple windows?

edit: do you mean, when she clicks on a link she wants a new window open? I'm sure that can be changed in the settings.

I don't think you can turn off tabbed browsing in Chrome you can in IE though. go to internet options then click setting for tabs at the bottom and turn it off. Chrome would more secure than IE on XP though.

stop going to that site?

Do you use an ad blocker or the MVPS HOSTS file?

I personally use the MVPS HOSTS file, it block lots of ads and blocks known malware servers.

It speeds up your web page loading to since you don't have to load ads anymore

puretna? Why do you have to download the video? Try bing video search, it's awesome!

try the MVPS HOSTS file! Download > unzip it > then run the mvps.bat file as admin.

People could be intentionally infecting porn with viruses? That is pretty low, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Anyways, I've been using chrome exclusively after Firefox just shits itself randomly sometimes. Years of almost problem free use, but now I'm tired of seeing the Crash Report popup every 5 minutes. I updated it and thought it was fixed, and it worked fine for a bit.... then the same shit happened so yeah.

Just checked again, still no update. Yet sometimes I'll only have 4-5 tabs open in one window and it'll be minimized/in the background, and it'll crash

^those FF crashes were probably caused by add-ons. I'm not a fan of add-ons, mainly for this reason.

You're probably right. Gonna try uninstalling some.... I did last time but it didn't seem to help so I kinda gave it up

One thing that annoys me about Chrome is that when it crashes, its a dice roll whether or not it restores the pages.

Chrome sandboxes Flash Player in latest Dev channel release for Windows
BY VLAD SAVOV
POSTEDDEC 2ND 2010 05:50AM

Hey, Adobe's finally figured out how to make Flash secure -- have Google do it! The guys behind your favorite search engine have updated their latest Dev channel release of Chrome to include a new sandboxing facility for Flash Player content. It'll serve to limit access to sensitive system resources and make Flash's operation a generally less threatening proposition than it currently is. This also marks the fulfillment of a longstanding promise from Google to give Flash the same treatment it's afforded to JavaScript and HTML rendering for a while, and should be welcome news to Windows users eager to minimize "the potential attack surface" of their browser. Sorry, Mac fans, you're out in the unsecured cold for now. Of course, the Dev channel itself is one step less refined than beta software, so even if you're on Windows it might be advisable to wait it out a little bit.

Yup! It's pretty cool! Chrome is definitely becoming the most secure browser for XP. No other browser has a sandbox for XP and Chrome will be sandboxing HTML, Java and soon Flash! Plus it updates Flash automatically and updates itself automatically.

I wonder if Flash is Sandboxed in IE on Vista/7.....

^^ Sometimes it can take a minute or more to load.

Going by way of address gmail.com or going to Google first and clicking the gmail button.

Chrome 8 came out today it's got 800+ bug fixes, built-in sandboxed PDF viewer and web app support. I believe Google is planning to launch a Web App store at some point in the future.

Update to that and see if it makes a difference. To update manually click the wrench and choose about chrome and then it will tell you there's an update if it hasn't updated automatically, then choose update and restart your browser.

If you're on OS X click on Chrome from the Menu bar choose about chrome and then follow the same steps as above.

Or you could just close your browser and it should update automatically in the background after closing

Looks like they may have finally fixed this bug with version 8. I'm willing to give it another try.

Would a mod please remove the apostrophe from "it's" in the thread title? I'm trying so hard to ignore it but I can't.

Thanks.

Its something the mods are working on. The AZ server is having it's share of problems as of late. Its not too big of a deal, it should be fixed soon enough.
