There was a time I couldn't imagine using something other than Chrome, but you couldn't pay me to go back now.

I was thinking of picking up that Samsung chromebook for $177 for a web browsing machine but nvm.
(I regret buying my 10.5” iPad Pro. I think I was expecting it to replace a laptop, but it still can’t because of iOS)

Google pulls the plug on ‘Project Campfire,’ a way for Chromebooks to dual-boot Windows
May. 15th 2019
Last year, Google started work on a new project for Chrome OS that had a lot of promise for users. Project Campfire, as it was called, enabled the ability to reboot a Chromebook into Windows or a full version of Linux. Unfortunately, Google is apparently pulling the plug on that project.

Meanwhile, if you use one of those Google security keys...

Google recalls its Bluetooth Titan Security Keys because of a security bug
Google today disclosed a security bug in its Bluetooth Titan Security Key that could allow an attacker in close physical proximity to circumvent the security the key is supposed to provide. The company says the bug is due to a “misconfiguration in the Titan Security Keys’ Bluetooth pairing protocols” and that even the faulty keys still protect against phishing attacks. Still, the company is providing a free replacement key to all existing users.
The bug affects all Titan Bluetooth keys, which sell for $50 in a package that also includes a standard USB/NFC key, that have a “T1” or “T2” on the back.

Apple will probably tell Intel users to do it the day they start shipping ARM laptops.

Big reason why I went AMD is because AM4 support has been promised through 2019's upcoming batch of chips. If I want to upgrade based on what comes out this year, or to pick those up a year from now for really cheap, I don't have to upgrade my mobo.

Apple released a support document saying that if you really need to, turn off hyper threading to fully mitigate zombieload or similar vulnerabilities.
warns that performance could drop 40%.

No way I see Microsoft coming out and telling users that they need to do it. That would cause riots in data centers. The only way they would say that is if something widespread happened.

I wouldn't mind ads if they were few and far between. But whenever I disable ad blocking on a site that demands it, I'm instantly turned off by the amount of ads and never go back.
