Question DVD Burning Speed Question

So I've got dual sony dvd burners on my computer. I'm using Roxio Easy Media Creator Suite 8.

Right now I'm trying to burn copys of my wedding dvd and I'm burning from an ISO image.

When burning to both drives, the speed fluctuates between under 1x and at most 3x. but the burners can support 16x. And the actual DVDs can support 16x speed as well.

Why can't I get it to burn any higher than 3x?

It's taking forever to burn these damn DVDs

I've tried messing with the amount of hard disk space the buffer underun can use. But I haven't actually tried disabling the buffer underrun for fear of poor dvd copying.

Any ideas?

If you use NERO, it will tell you the Max spin rate you can burn at, then aleast you will know whats causing to you burn so slow.

The last time I checked, EMC (Easy Media Creator) has a tool that can identify the media and tell you what the spin rate is as well. And last time it did report 16x.

But I'll check it again as soon as the current discs are finished burning.

Just checked, it doesn't report the max spin rate of the disc. Only the burning device.

But I still don't see how that is affecting the very slow burn rate.

Could it be because the read time from accessing the hard drive is slowing it down since I'm burning from an ISO image on the hard drive?

Check to see if there is any firmware updates for your DVD burner

It looks as though I do already have the up to date firmware for both drives.
