Which Cell company is the best

Im switching at the end of the month now that you can take your number with you. I have att and it had good coverage, but now the coverage sucks :thumbsdn: now and I'm paying more.

I like cingulars rollover mins but know the reg serves is good but dont know about their GSM serves(any one with gsm In the dallas area)
I Like Sprints plans and 7 pm nights but question there coverage.
I like verizons coverage but thats about it.


what do you guys think?

I got GSM Service also and it's great.

 

T-Mobile, great phones, great plans, havent ever had any reception problems.

 

I can't imagine anyone here would know a damn thing about the cell phone business.

 

Check them all out. You gotta decide which is best for you. There are no clear superior winners in Dallas but if I were to recommend just one, it would be Sprint. Surprise.

I think comparing coverage these days is pretty much pointless.

their all pretty much the same.

I'm with Verizon (easily the best IMO) and they're on all the rest, and they always break up, get dropped calls, don't get reception some places... etc, especially AT&T, whcih I think is absolute trash in the LA area.

I have no problems compared to them.

 

well yea theres exceptions. and no doubt verizon has largest coverage area...

but in the northeast at least... there is very little difference between most of them... except ATT who is absent from most of the northeast.

i dont believe for one minute the break up / drop calls comment. its way too general too be true. sounds like bias.


really quality of service seems to have more to do with your phone these days then who is servicing it.

Insert your carrier's name please. C'mon, don't try to turn it into a statement of fact. It's only an opinion. We've heard it a million times using the other carrier's names.

BTW, tell you friends to get rid of their 4 year old, 90s-style phones and start using the good stuff.

I don't know what it is about the mobile industry that causes people to be so loyal to whomever they settle into...

I understand it in the automotive industry... where a car is a big investment.... so you defend your investment tooth and nail because its hard to change your mind later.


But it aint that way with phones. So what is it?


If you go to any of the cell forums... its amazing. Go to att forums... ATT IS BEST. Go to Sprint forums... SPRINT IS best... etc

I've had Verizon for the last two-plus years. I've been very pleased. Before that, I had Cingular/Cellular One for seven or eight years. Cingular/Cellular One was okay back then, but Verizon's coverage, FOR ME (MA/NH), is much better than Cingular's is now.

So do I, gotta love direct connect (yes other companies have ptt) and about the drop call comment being general, sprint dropped alot of my calls and just lost service so much ... Dont have that problem anymore.

And god dam, people use the search feature, how many cell phone threads we gonna have, I'm sure mikey loves it since he can try to sell to everyone on the board.

 

Sprint's ptt called Ready Link works great in Hawaii. You should try it AND you get a nice tiny stylish phone. If the Sanyo RL2500 doesn't do it for you, wait till our next PTT shows up.

 

Who's turning it into fact? I know it's only an opinion. I never said otherwise. In my OPINION, I think Verizon is the best, and I judge that using my friends' calls as a baseline. It's not very scientific, and sure, lik soopa said, I could be a little biased, but hey, thats what I use to judge the quality of the service, cause that's who I talk to most of the time on my cell phone.

By the way, I respect your comments because I know you to be an expert on the subject.

Oh ya, my friends use the good stuff. The oldest phone I've encountered is the v60 by Motorola.

that's not a corporate plug.

that's a fact. that phone is cooler than any nextel phone, the speakerphone blows it away.

a corporate plug would be sprint's ptt is better than nextel in hawaii. if you try sprint, i'm pretty sure you will throw away your nextel phone and wonder why you haven't used the 100% all digital all-islands call-back-to-the-states no extra charge service all along.

btw, did you know that primeco customers in hawaii (used to be verizon) was purchased by and are now sprint? they were unhappy the next day, right?

Sorry but i'm sick of this. Wow you have a sprint phone with ptt, i bought that dam replacement plan with sprint, i sent my phone in, they said it wasnt covered. My brother messed up his phone twice (with nextel) and they just charged him a deductable (but they have one without the deductable) and they didnt ask any questions.

And wow they have a shiny phone that will probably break, Lets say it works forever. Who are you going to ptt, i know one person who has the ptt with sprint, and he doesn't know anyone else, great network. The ptt will probably work great, just like the service with sprint {/sarcasm}.

You saw the figures, people are switching from sprint in record numbers, verizon and nextel are the ones that are growing pretty consistently.

 

btw has Sprint changed a lot over the last few years? Other than the ptt? I had a Sprint Timeport when I was in HS and couldn't get any reception near my home. I had to switch providers a few times, but nextel seems to be the only company that has reception in my area. Has there been more sites built on the island (I'm on Oahu by the way)? That was my only gripe with Sprint...reception sucked

 

I know the reg service is good but is the gsm any good, i dont know anyone with the gsm service.

I'm soo sick of AT&T I dont know what happend they had good cov and now it just sucks.:angry: i drop calls left and right.

 

the GSM should be good. try it out you have 15 day trial period...dont be scurred. ive been on cingular GSM since like july its not bad...but i live in NJ...

 

Cinglar GSM is almost as bad as ATT gsm...and t-mobile is nothing to brag about either..

The real answer is the best provider is based on personal preference.

Based on your area, one provider might work better than the others.

Based on the phone you like, since every provider has different types of phones, some people choose to shop based on phone vs carrier / signal / features.

Based on plans / minutes / your needs, since every provider has almost radically different calling plans [earlier nights, earlier weekends, etc].

I personally travel everywhere from north as Yonkers, NY and south as Philadelphia, PA on almost daily basis, and find that between my 3 phones, the sidekick has decent signal about 75% of the time, Nextel is about the same, but seems that everytime I goto make a call from it [for the sake of letting the Verizon phone rest, it has no service] , and the Verizon always has good service.

 

No I didn't see the figures/facts about people switching from Sprint. Show them to me, please. Where these the vapor-figures that Fotis supplied to you? I do remember seeing a churn rate of about 3%.

But all phone companies are growing, not just your favourite ones. Sprint has over 20 million customers, way more than Nextel will have even in the next two years.

Sorry you don't like Sprint PTT. It's not for everybody. But it is for a whole lot of other people. It's gonna be a corporate plug (sorry bout that) but you'll soon see a post here about the record numbers on Sprint PTT and how awesome the service is, which incidently is the very same service/network the phones run on...go figure.

 

Not sure what progress has been made in Hawaii but the Timeport would be a 2G phone. Today we sell 3G, third generation, phones so you'll find the newest phones perform better.
