Blackberry + Calendar + Outlook + Timezone changes = :annoyed:

Ok you frequent fliers..

Lets suppose you live/die by an Outlook calendar on an exchange server that is used across time zones.

My 'issue' is when I travel with my work Blackberry, the phone will automatically adjust the timezone as it should, but not the times on the calendar.

- I've messed around with time zones on the Outlook appointments for each time zone to no avail.

- My Palm Pre has no problem with this but thats my personal phone.

Is there software out there that can help? An obscure setting I'm unaware of?
Or am I just waiting on RIM to update this disaster?

Article basically says that it sucks and either you set your BB not to go on local time, or schedule your appointments to the time it will be locally.

Ken, this will be a addressed with the release of Outlook 2010.

The problem is not currently with the BB (It annoys the hell out of me, too) but rather with Outlook's inability to record a time zone for an appointment event. Office2010 will reportedly have the ability to enter this info so that when your BB adjusts, the correct time will display FOR THAT TIMEZONE.

I do not know how the Palm OS account for this, but I recall that on my TREO I did not have the issue. Must be a difference in the way the systems interface with Outlook.

It is kind of a problem with BB. If you enter an appt with the Calendar app on your BB, you run into the same problem. You have to enter the times of everything relative to the time zone where you will be at that time.

Office 2010 is due out soon, and is supposed to allow for the entry of appointments in whatever time zone you prefer. Appointment on Thursday in New York at 9am? Set it for 9AM Eastern time in Outlook and when the phone adjusts, the appointment should be at the correct time.
