If price isn't as outrageous as typical Nokia N phones, nokiaman would love it.

to me, i'll say N900 will be better. It's saying that it's just like a computer.

other than that, just about the same.

Dell actually has it for 423 with free shipping. At least they did a week or two ago. I work at T-Mobile on the corporate side. Rumors about us selling it. If you're not on T-Mobile and buy this, you're not going to get 3G since it was built on our bandwidth. I'm hoping we sell it though and subsidized because I get 40% off phones.

Yes I did. Its very snappy and beats even my Palm Pre in that regard.

Same processor but faster web browsing.

The native flash support is REALLY nice

I watched videos on South Park Studios, even my PS3 won't load that.

For anyone still using Palm PIMs or WebOS PIMs, you can install Access Garnet VM emulator and get all Palm OS games and programs, including calendar and desktop working. Plus N900 can multitask

the touch is great. didnt feel plastic.

its a little heavy.
complicated somehow.

I guess if this thread is going to stay.. i might as well put a little info for people wanting to get it. i m not a pro in writing reviews and stuff tho..

Like what Ken said, the internet browsing is great. Works perfectly great.
iPhone is based on the touch of your finger. (heat of your finger..sensor)
but N900 is based on nails! it works better using your nails or the pen that comes with it.
works fine with opening a few web browser together and having to message people, and looking at other stuff with the phone. But yes, it still lags a little.

Camera does not have timer count down... but still have the same quality as you all can see. 5.0mp.
And pictures taken from the phone, can't be send to others via message. it only has to be bluetooth, Share and Email.
Can't edit the pictures through the phone like other N series phones.

the ringtone's not PERFECT when you put it in the highest volume.

the Front camera didn't really work well. There's only 1 application that can turn it on. "MIRROR". but the quality of it.. sucks. it felt like a 0.1MP.. ==

Accessories. I bought a black hard cover for this phone. And it's still the same, the fitment doesn't really work that well. The back cover fits in perfectly only. I had to use double sided tape to put on the front cover.
And i just got myself a crystal transparent cover, hope it will fit better.

Have you tried Skype on it?

In theory, if you lived in Finland you could survive off of a $10 equivalent data only plan and never pay for voice

Well with Skype you need to have an account and the other person needs an account, that makes it a free call.

If you're calling someone's landline or cell phone, then you have to pay for Skype. A plan that lets you call anyone in the US or Canada is about 3 euros. About 10 for most countries worldwide.

That might be why

Since i m not going to get myself in the crowd for the countdown.. and PLUS, i just install a applications that can snap pictures on the phone itself... I m going to intro a little more now! (probably find a lot on the web tho)

This is my current desktop.

Swipe across the screen, there's another desktop page.

And.. another one.

There's a total of four that can display. but i have only turn three of them on.

It's all custom.. where you can move things around.. stack them altogether or whatever you like.
Just click on the page.. hold it.. then it will shows the "X" where you can either delete it or move it.

In the mean time, when you click on the top of the page, this will show up.

lets you customize it...

Next, by clicking on the time OR the power button..

this is where you
- choose your profile..
- setting alarm..
- internet connection(WIFI or the internet service)..
- the Green circle represents the Skype account (it means you're online.. and people that you add on your skype account will be able to either message/call you at anytime.)..
- Brightness of the display and volume of the media player.
- the camera picture there.. is the thing i use to take snapshots of every pictures.
- bluetooth connections.

Next, phone calls..
you can choose to either call with Skype or the regular calling.

And if you choose to use your contact list, you will also be given the options!

Lastly, internet browser..

there's the normal buttons like our computer's browser. (stop, refresh, back.)
by clicking the two stacked box on the top left corner, you can minimize the browser and start yourself another new browser/applications.

If you just want to browse the internet, you can click the box on the bottom right corner.. it will take away those buttons and becomes like this..!

_________________________________________

By using the internet for quite some time, you drains the battery quite quickly.. and i went ahead and bought another spare battery for cheap! (taiwan). It cost at least 30-40$$ cheaper compare to the states...

Happy new Year guys!!

What about the music player on it? Is it as good as the N95? Does it still come with an equalizer?

I played with the phone for a while at the Nokia flagship. It is very cool, but the display/casing is not up to my personal, not all that high standard. The casing is quite thick for what it holds, its high quality plastic but I look down on plastic casings (I'm looking at you, iPhone 3g), and the slider doesn't move enough and give enough keyboard clearance. The system could also seriously use a capacitive display. Maemo: Wow, the most potential out of all of the mobile platforms IMO. It is basically a desktop like experience and makes excellent use of the processor. I can only imagine how this would fly on a Snapdragon 1.2ghz.

Random thought: a real internet tablet should have moved up to a 4.3'' like the HD2

If Nokia had a clue they would switch to this like apple went from os9 to osX

yyeahh, i agree that n900 is all towards the mini computer type.

I've been using my phone as the 'computer' that i carry around.. just that, i can only surf the web. can't do anything else such as typing a microsoft word file.

And i didnt regret getting the internet options!!
i can just hook it up to my laptop and use the internet when there's no WIFI available! My gf LOVES it! lol. uses computer while seating in the car for two hours.

well, i m sure you know about this.

Not sure where you got it from, but make sure the box is still sealed up by NOKIA itself.
After opening it up.. check to see if its exactly the same as on the internet. (who knows, if China has replica on it yet). -- but this depends on who you got it from tho. If it's a shop, it'll be fine.

Other than that, like working condition of the phone, will have to wait till you actually use it for couple days. (hope it won't happen to you tho..)

remember that this N900 is based on hard solid objects such as your finger nails to operate the touch screen. (so, dont wonder why its not working with you use your thumb!)

about accessories, just get a screen protector. prevent it from being scratched. if you're getting those phone covers, i dont know.. because of the design of this phone, it's not really wise spending on it.

I bought this hard cover from ebay. 1st time, it didnt fit (because one of the tap is broken). 2nd one fit just fine, but after weeks of using it, the front cover became loose. ==

Try not to lose the pen that came with it!!! because Nokia don't sell those separately. (you'll have to buy the China replica)

Lastly, don't be afraid when you tried to take off the back cover to put in your sim card. because it IS very tight.

i'll post more when it came to my mind.

Good luck!!

Thanks! I bought mine off of Amazon. I was checking out protective covers for it and found that zagg.com makes a very thin plastic film for it that keeps it from being scratched. Check out the videos there when you get the chance. I'm planning on getting one but still looking around to see what else is out there.

haha. i actually bought my screen protector from ebay. the.. 99 cents ones.. lol.

didnt want to get that much money out to spend on those invisible shields.

invisible shields covers prevent scratchesss.

but the hard cover that i got.. saves me many times! because i dropped in on the floor couple times and get away with scratches on the cover instead.
woo..

Good point. Paying that much money I'm a bit paranoid and probably get both! I'm sure my lady will be happy to know she's getting my N95 8GB soon.

Yeah, it's pretty loud. I might be regretting to give it to her because of the music player and they equalizer on it. When using a different pair of headphones on it, the music is clear and lots of bass.

This phone is AWESOME!!! The only bummer I have is T-Mobile don't have 3G here in the area yet. Got to love potatoville, NOT! I guess I don't have to update my phone since it says there are no updates for it yet. I do have a problem for the PC Suite though. I can't access the lifeblog section to import photos from my PC to the phone. Just have to use the memory card. How can I import without using the memory card?
