blackberry bold

i am thinking about getting this phone but i was wondering. For text plans, my other friends have the iphone and well they use aim for texting, and it is free. i was wondering if the blackberry bold can get aim also so i can also use aim as my texting. or do i need to get a texting plan?

as i understand it, the iphone gets free wi-fi. so your friends only get the aim when they are indoors and in a place where they pick up the wi-fi so its limited but yeah free in the end...

i think some blackberry phones pick up wi-fi for free as well...just don't ask me which, ask when you buy it.

i say pay for a txt plan so you can txt wherever you are in the world...

The Bold has wifi built in. So if you mostly hang around hotspots, you can save some $$$ and just get a plan with texting.

Otherwise, you need get the Blackberry Internet Service (which is about 30 or 40 extra) which gives you relatively fast (in some cases 3G) internet connections just about anywhere.

i think that the curve is a better device as compared to the bold because of how its shaped and feels in your hand, also the keyboard is way better on the curve. im a blackberry freak and i had the pearl, curve, bold, and storm. currently the bold and curve just sit in a drawer and collect dust bb storm ftmfw.

I 100% disagree. I have had many phones, including most BB devices. IMO The bold's keyboard is by far the best keyboard I have used ever.

As far as AIM goes, Yes you can get AIM on the bold. You can use it anywhere not just when connected to wifi.

Bold's keyboard > *

I've tried them all. I can barely type on my 8830, my thumbs are too big

for anyone who has the bold. What cases or covers have you gotten? i ahve been looking all around and cant find any that i am willing to pay for. I mean i looked at the blackberry cover and well it is thin and flimsy and doesnt even cover the screen and its $16 bucks? ahh hell no. i dont mind paying more for a decent cover. something that will protect it and at the sametime i wont have to uncover it to use it.

like iskin products i love there covers but they only make stuff for apple.
