I was planning to but I couldn't find any info on whether my previous apps will stay after the jailbreak. If I'm able to retain all my previous stuff and just add the benefits of jailbreaking then I will do it asap, but I can't find any info on whether that's the case.

all the tools you'll need.
you don't lose ANY data, always make sure b4 you start, you've synced everything. but apple stores you're bought apps under your itunes account, so any device set to your account can redownload the apps from apple, plus they are all stored in your itunes on your computer when you sync.

you answered my questiom but that site only confused me further...All that baseband, 2.2 firmware, 2.28 modem, and soft unlock crap

This is my scenario:
2.2 firmware, 2.28 modem, AT&T service. I don't need to unlock. I want to be able to update my phone with future firmware if they help the phone, but I'm aware that patches to stop the jailbreakers come with these updates. It appears that this is the case with the latest 2.2 firmware. Or am I wrong here. I read 5 pages of comments on that page and couldn't find a clear answer to my scenario.
don't worry about all of that, just grab quickpwn for windows or mac and the a copy of the 2.2 firmware file and you're good to go.
every firmware update will break the jailbreak, restoring your phone to factory state. most ppl with jailbroke phone's either update and suffer the wait of the new firmware being jailbroke or like most, wait until the new firmware is jailbroke then update.
lmk if u need more help/advice.

NOOBk!LLER probably not. You would have to wait since they told US over a MILLION times not to update. Apple is over this place and also looking on ways to stop 3rd party apps, why would you even update?

blackcivic i updated because some of the apps i wanted i could not install because of incompatible issues with 2.1, so i updated to 2.2
So i guess i can't jailbreak at all then right?

yes everything. download quickpwn, run the software, follow the on screen instructions and you'll have a jailbroken iphone.
what he is talking about is if u wanted to unlock your phone, and has nothing to do with jailbreaking.
modem firmware doesn't play a role in jailbreak just unlock.

I have. Goto youtube's site directly. Go to the desktop version and not the mobile version.
Watch a video directly on the site and not via the youtube app. You'll know when you get there....
There are a few other sites as well...
by now, I'm sure you're familiar with all the pron sites. Test away I guess.
Most flash sites work. Some don't. Some you have to let the clip load all the way before you can let it play through. Its still a beta but for a beta its pretty good.
Enjoy
