BB Tour
I'm afraid to take it apart. How did you do it exactly? Is it something Verizon can do for me or will they charge me? I'm kind of relieved to hear maybe it just needs to be cleaned, as I'm only <6 months into my 2 year term so I can't get a new one anytime soon. Don't know if I can deal with the trackball issues for another 18 months.
It is a little complex, but not that bad. But you do need jeweler screwdrivers. As to Verizon changing you, I don't think they will. and if it turns out the phone is defective, they will give you another one.
Trackball issues can generally be fixed by using a q-tip and some purell hand sanitizer. Use the q-tip to dab a little hand sanitizer on the trackball and then roll it around for a little bit (you may have to do this a couple times). I have repaired many a trackball this way with out ever taking them apart. Compressed air works once in a while.
If that doesn't work, call Verizon. They will troubleshoot it. If it can't be fixed with a software update, they will send a warranty replacement (as long as it's within a year of purchase).

-I enter an appointment while in AZ for 3PM.
-I travel to LA to attend said appointment.
-Clock on BB does not update to local time, appointment remains at 3PM, but clock is off one hour.
-If I manually adjust clock, appointment now appears one hour off the correct time.
BB Time Zones explained....
Believe it or not, there is a method to their madness.

Time Zone Updates
BlackBerry devices do not change timezones automatically as you travel. There is no option to enable this! When arriving in a new time zone, you should manually set the time at Options > Date/Time.
Time Settings Options on your BlackBerry
* BlackBerry - Synchronizes the time (minutes) with the Research In Motion BlackBerry Infrastructure and not the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
* Network - Synchronizes the time (minutes) with your service provider's local network time.
* Off - Does not synchronize the date or time.
Tips for entering calendar appointments in regard to Time Zones
* When setting apopintments in your BlackBerry for a TimeZone OTHER than the one in you are based, be sure to set the appointment in the respective time zone. You will find upon arriving in that time zone, and manually setting the time zone, your appointments will be at the correct time.
* The theory is this--If you travel alot, and say you live in NYC, in Eastern. You set a meeting for next week in Chicago (Central). When you set the meeting appointment, you ALSO set the timezone for that appointment. So if the meeting is at 3:00 p.m., Central, you set it for 3:00 p.m., Central. If you set it for 3:00 p.m. Eastern, then traveled to Chicago and your phone AUTOmatically updated the timezone, it would be off an hour and get confusing.

This has been an issue since the inception of the BB OS, and users have generally agreed that this is really the only major flaw in the BB OS. Unfortunately, RIM does not seem to care too much. I understand that MS has made changes to calendar event to include time zone settings in Outlook 2007. Still, it's a pain in the ass.

Plus, irrespective of the appointment issue, the BB KNOWS it is in a different time zone, and even KNOWS the new time from the cell tower, but refuses to just adjust the time for me. I have to manually do it every time I travel... Freaking PITA. Every other damn phone out there simply grabs the current network time.
As an example, when I was just in Las Vegas, I needed to use the BB as my alarm clock. I had to compensate in my head and set the alarm for an hour later than I really wanted to wake up so that it would go off on time. Had I manually updated the clock to the current time zone, all of my appointments would have been off by an hour. WTF?
