Whoops your right. I would be using the USB cable if I wanted to move any files on and off the Ipod to make room. Or using Itunes with the same cable to remove / add music and videos.

So they are smart enough not to hassle you about using a 'cell phone' while in flight? Cool.

By the way, the "cheaper" iPhone is actually not what it seems...

Original 8gb iphone with 450 min, unlim data, 200 sms, at launch: $600-$100 credit +24x$60 = $1940

Original 8gb iphone with 450 min, unlim data, 200 sms, after price drop: $400 +24x$60 = $1840

3G iphone 8gb with 450 min, unlim data, 200 sms: $200 + 24x$70 + 24x$5 = $2000

So the "cheaper" 3g iphone actually costs $160 extra.

I go through them especially quick with the iPhone. The IM format for viewing text messages seems to encourage me to send multiple brief messages instead of typing it all out at once.

I had to up my text message plan to 400 (on T-mob) and I don't even have an iPhone, yet. Some people talk alot, some people text lot, some people don't do either, and they clearly have no friends

I dont think he is part of the AT&T revenue model anymore...

AT&T reveals that Apple will no longer receive the revenue sharing from each users plans. It was highly publicized that AT&T paid Apple a portion of its monthly recurring service charges for each iPhone user. Under the new agreement, there is no revenue sharing. AT&T is presumably directing that money towards the $200 subsidy for the iPhone.

I really like the iPhone, but can't get over the fact that it's only available on AT&T. Having Verizon has spoiled me I guess.

My brother-in-law might give me his first gen Iphone and he'll buy a 3g one. If I don't get a data plan and just use wifi for the internet, then I'm really not missing much? I don't care for GPS.

I've had mine without a data plan for nearly a year. I think I missed a lot. I can't wait till the new one launches up here with data supported.

not really, you'll get the 2.0 software in July just like the iPhone 3G.

I think there will still a market for 1st gen iPhone because they were easily unlocked. It may be a little harder with the 3G.

I read the dev team already unlocked an early version of the 2.0 update but getting around the AT&T contract just to get the new 3G phones will cause problems

Once I get the 3g (assuming I dont hold out for a 32gb model) I would most likely finally play with unlocking my 1st gen.

Probably has more resale value when unlocked, too.

They were going for 400 the day before WWDC keynote. I think when Jobs announced the pricing that effectively killed the aftermarket value. However with this new instore activation mumbo jumbo it might add value back to the 1g because the 3g ones will be near impossible to get unlocked as you can't just walk out of the store with one, no hassels like before.

definitely should be able to sell and unlocked for more money.

I keep thinking about waiting for the 32gb, but i guess with my 16gb touch and a 16gb 3G I'll have 32gb already
