apparently im not the only one with the no data issue, and that it might be related to the carrier settings.
guess at&t or apple would just have to push out a carrier setting update or
i also just noticed i dont have MMS anymore.

so i guess maybe for me since i was jailbroken and had the mywi app that allowed tethering. it somehow i guess changed the carrier profile
so i went to a website and set up a custom APN to set it back to AT&Ts default one.
and now i have data again.
still no MMS thou

I know, but you never know with people these days. I think it only took a couple days before 3.0 was hacked. Or maybe that was 2.0 not sure. Plus some of these guys are able to get there hands on it before it comes out. iOS4 was already jailbroken a weak ago or so.

FWIW, I agree with you in some instances. My wife uses a prepaid plan from TMobile by choice. Once a year I put $10 on her account and we are good to go. It is all she wants and needs.

How's tethering working for those on the $30 unlimited? Is it included?
Sweetness I got my 4.0 last night. A download and install wouldn't work but a download only option worked fine. The backup was fast as shit as I was worried it would take forever. Some peeps on macrumors took forever to backup even though their phones were empty. Maybe my sync is set to backup also when I connect the phone but I have to ask the wife since she set up itunes. Anyways Pandora now kicks much ass. Multitasking is the shit. Love that I can see the wallpaper all the time and no more app clutter although I would've loved to see more than 12 apps per folder but it's all good.

I think having those pre-order phones arrive a day early will help lessen the load on AT&T's activation servers on the 24th. Activation a few hundred thousand plus whatever they sell that day would mean 
AT&T servers so make sure you activate it on the 23rd and do your part! I'm sure that won't be a problem.

As has been widely discussed, while the iPhone 3G and second-generation iPod touch are compatible with Apple's iOS 4 released yesterday, they do not support all of the features of the updating operating system. Crap, I guess ios4 eats up more memory, safari reloads each tab now when I switch around (ala safari for iPad) pretty darn annoying.
Also there are times where it feels a bit sluggish

People who ordered via the ATT site are getting hosed. My boss ordered his Tuesday night via Apple.com, and his is arriving tomorrow. I ordered at 11AM on Tuesday via ATT's site and I have no tracking number, and all ATT's reps have told me is that mine will 'probably' ship on the 24th (not delivered). Frustrating.

My backup took about an hour before it made any progress. The progress bar was literally under the "a" in Backup for about an hour. Then, it just jumped to almost complete. The whole thing seemed to take about 1.5 hours from start to finish. I didn't really time it though.
