No it's the Gold Master which means unless they find a show stopper bug then the GM build will be what's released to the public on the 12th. If everything goes according to plan then this is the version everyone will get in a few days. If there is a bug fix then it should probably be released as a little update to your device that has the GM build installed.

I miss Steve Jobs.

Well worth the download. I keep finding new features and changes as I've been using my phone today. Another friend of mine installed iOS 5 and we were trying out iMessage...absolutely awesome.

Yeah as others said, it will be the same version released next week unless something is terribly wrong. They've gone through 8 (I think?) previous beta versions since WWDC in June, so they've had plenty of time to perfect it.

I have version iOS 4.3.2 currently on mine. Do I need to upgrade to the latest first before I dload iOS 5 or can I upgrade straight to iOS 5? Or dunno?

Have to make sure the check box is selected on each device in iTunes. Physically hook it up, go to the Backup/Sync screen where you select your device, it's on the bottom 1/3 of the screen. For each device.
It's slower than balls though, at least if you have to do a backup during the wifi sync.

Straight to iOS5, why would you do this incrementally? It wipes your iPhone anyways, and install iOS5 and then you will have an option to restore from backup all of your aps/contacts/music/pornos/pictures

Any reason why the standby time dropped from 300 hours on the iPhone 4 to 200 hours on the iPhone 4S?

It does seem to be slow. Guess its not an issue if you just plug your phone in at night. It is an issue that I usually put my computer to sleep at night. Oh well.
Poor BlackBerry. BBM was one of the last things it still had over the iPhone.

dual core? I guess these ARM chips don't have all the advanced power management features that Intel chips have. Yes I know ARM uses much less overall but Intel chip can shut down entire cores if not needed or overclock a little to get the job done faster so it can get back to sleep sooner and therefore use less power overall.
