no, it's not against any rules to discuss something in a forum, I think the only possible rules in question would be those pertaining to personal attacks and derogatory language, racist remarks and connotations, and things along those lines. I'm glad that the great majority of us are adults (aside from one ) and can discuss these things without having to resort to such mechanisms. And like you (or someone else) said, it's not really comparable to someone looking at a photo and saying it sucks, because we are forming our impressions from factual, quantitative specifications.

I didn't claim it was supposed to have them, no one knew what it was supposed to have. I do know what people were hoping it would have and it doesn't have those things.

I hoped it would fail, but not because it's Apple. If the iphone OS came out and blew me away, I'd be remorseful about my switch. Glad that didn't happen.

Forming an impression about an no one can buy yet is just like people comparing camera equipment that hasn't hit the market yet. Something I KNOW you have laughed at well.

To form an impression about the ipad sure form it, state what you're saying but when you keep repeating it, it's just be a troll. In some cases has gotten people in trouble for on this website.

 

Based on specs and features revealed in the big announcement...I think having an opinion on those is perfectly reasonable.

Same goes for people who form opinions on vehicles (please see Automotive News sub-forum) on cars that they have never driven...

No, they aren't. If it's unfounded...sure (i.e. XYZ announces new product in works but no specs and features are reveaed and everyone says it will suck before seeing ANYTHING about it).

But, if you're given the release details on a new product, if you find it rather lacking, you'd say meh too, no...?

I do agree that we have already stated what we think are the omissions, and they do not need to be repeated, repeatedly. But if they are, why seem to take it so personally? Just ignore it and move on.

And, I'll readily admit I've been on both sides of the fence, in regard to your 2nd paragraph. That's kind of the main point of forums, discussion. Whatever and wherever I have argued this stuff, it's always been content-based to the best of my ability, and even though I've been labeled as a hater, I *AM* arguing based on real specs and figures. Have I argued based on speculation? Of course. Why bother reading a board or any content on it if you are not open to seeing both positive and negative commentary? Do you want some kind of happy-go-lucky place where everyone is smiling and in agreement with everyone else 100% of the time? What kind of content would that make?

This discussion also reminds me heavily about the GT-R threads. None of us had driven or even seen the car in real life yet we battled on for pages and pages and pages. Why? Because it's a DISCUSSION BOARD. And, people labeled me a Nissan hater in there (along with others), they said if this car was badged as something else, I wouldn't be hating on it as much, etc. etc. Well guess what, I'm a Supra lover. Yet in the LF-A thread (a car which can be traced back to being the end-product of what started out as the successor to the Supra) I can be seen openly speaking against the car. Why? Because I speak what I feel. I don't like how that car looks, I don't like how much it costs, etc. So I posted about it. Just want you to see that there is an "other side" as well - I'm not a blind naysayer that relies on nothing aside from hate.

Tell you what, next time you don't want any negative comments in a thread, add this to the title: "POSITIVE COMMENTS ONLY". And then all the negative people will know to refrain from commenting.

I don't get what is bothering you. There are also people here countering the negativity. When that happens, people are going to argue. This isn't a court room, it's a forum. People are going to speak their minds. There is no right or wrong here, no jury to persuade. We all just state what we think. Why get upset about it?

 

Disagree, jupes...How is that so? You have Person A saying why he doesn't like it. Gives his reasons.

You have Person B countering everything Person A said. Person A responds in kind by trying to prove his point. Person B does the same...point, counterpoint...

Others chime in. It's a discussion, man...Sure, it got personal a bit earlier...but, right now, I don't see anything like that whatsoever...

I'm not taking it personally, I haven't I've said either way that this thing is good or bad. I haven't said anything that people can't post there opinions POSITIVE or NEGATIVE. All I have posted is that there are a lot of haters and people complained that I'm calling out haters. Some can't seem to see most of that was tongue and cheek, as I told you on FB.
