Does that mean Apple's still going to be putting 5400rpm HDD's in their iMacs?

macOS dropping support for older Macs.

Here's the list of supported Macs for macOS Mojave.
  • MacBook (Early 2015 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (Mid 2012 or newer)
  • MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 or newer)
  • Mac mini (Late 2012 or newer)
  • iMac (Late 2012 or newer)
  • iMac Pro (2017)
  • Mac Pro (Late 2013, plus mid 2010 and mid 2012 models with recommended Metal-capable GPU)

apple needs to update the Mac mini, otherwise eventually macOS won't support them

... or newer? Shouldn't that be ... or older, otherwise macOS would be dropping support for every newer Mac?

Or you meant macOS dropping support for older Macs. Here's the list of supported Macs.

I think that's the list it supports, if you're not on that list then you're not getting it. Otherwise they'd be dropping support for the 2015 MacBook already!

Since the 13" now has quad core, I wonder if/when they update the Mac mini, if it too will be quad core again or even 6-core

Good update to the 15. I like how they quietly went with 32gb after all the “eats too much battery” bs

I used to think these machines were insanely overpriced. Then I saw the price tag on the Dell XPS line and the Lenovo Yoga line. Dang dude. laptops are getting expensive as hell.

Well a maxed out 2018 15" MBP is like $6,700.
But half that cost is for the 4TB PCIe SSD.

Whiskerswhich one are you getting

Wish they updated the iMac today, too. My desk setup 2011 MacBook Pro isn't supported on Mojave and it's getting a little tired out. I still have my 2016 13-inch MacBook Pro but since I want to have iTunes stored on my NAS I want something stationary since I won't have any access to it if I'm off my home network.

That's what I'm figuring; just waiting on those 6-core i5's to be in the configurations (maybe an i7). If I could justify an iMac Pro I'd run over to Micro Center but the price is a little steep for what I need.

I don't want an iMac/iMac Pro nor do I need a Mac Pro.

so I'm just patiently waiting for an updated Mac Mini with Quad core and TB3

Here’s the really good part: I can tell you it’s there, but I can’t definitively prove it’s a reliability fix. After all, Apple told The Verge that “this new third-generation keyboard wasn’t designed to solve those [dust] issues.”

Apple is in the middle of several class-action lawsuits for the failure of their keyboards, so of course they can’t just come out and say, “Hey, we fixed it!” That says there was a problem to begin with. But you’ve heard that clever analysis from John Gruber already. I’m just here to posit: the advertised boost in quietude is a side-effect of this rubbery membrane. The quiet angle is, quite literally, a cover up.

Well, now, that's an interesting idea. I know that they're updating the Mini for the first time in years, but I don't know the details.

Has anybody seen details of the Mini changes?
