I'm really likely the Galaxy S7 Edge, coming from an S5. A lot of the small annoyances of the S5 have been taken care of.

 

I have been so busy, haven't had time to holler back... yup.. the nice thing about vanilla old school android, is that it just does what you ask and nothing more... it is not try to change your life, so it lasts forever... my lil Phablet just goes for days without me having to charge it... that might change once i use it for calls... but who really cares...it cost me 60 bucks!

long battery life was what made me fall in love with my nexus 6.... I had a changer in the car but I have had to use it only once or twice in the last 1.5 years... funny thing is... it actually works with my new truck's wireless charger too... but i don't ever use it... its nice to forget to charge things... IMVHO

I m so glad the Pixel is turning out to be a good buy for you guys... as a Nexus guy... i really want to know where Google was going with this independent line of phones... please keep us updated as you use them more!!!!

that's too funny because my Chinese phablet came with very rudimentary instructions in English... but I heard that some ppl got their instructions in Chinese, so I can totally see where you are coming from... but its really cool to hear that someone else has stepped out and gotten themselves and "nontraditional" phone to use, learn about and enjoy!!! Sammy has got those rigs so tight now....we are really ready to see the N8... I was using wife's Note 5 and I am still like wow this thing is smooth and qwik... I was writing some notes while seeing two patients during a home visit.. then I just emailed the notes to myself... LOL

 

Just picked up an S7 after being with apple for years, love this thing. Threw Nova launcher on it added a 128gb class 10 sd card and called it a day. Now just waiting patiently for Nougat.. I might get tasker and some NFC tags to change basic settings on the fly when I get to work, car, home, bed etc. ITFFF doesn't do all I need it to and I don't have enough smart devices to really take advantage of it.

Just picked up a Nexus 5x. Camera is important to me and my old nexus 5 took good pictures and this one states the camera is better than it`s predecessor.

 

if you thought the Nexus 5 took good photos, you'll be blown away with anything that came out in 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I can`t agree with that statement more.

The camera on the S7 , V10 and Pixel to name a few. Year of the Camera take a lot of good pics.

I take a lot of pictures of my work and am loaded with about 1500 pictures in my phone currently. Regularly back them up.

Picture taken from a moving vehicle on Nexus 5. Never had a problem but I did read about camera issues with the Nexus 5.

 

If that is an actual photo, i think my S6 edge+ takes wayyyy better photos than yours. and that was from 2015

Note 8 will be coming afterall this fall. I am surprised they are not going to change the name cause I am when it comes times for release the news will bring up the Note 7 stories again.

 

Consumers are clueless. Basically any Samsung is considered a bomb. My BiL has an S7 which is much smaller and they ask him. Samsung ain't changing their name.

 

 

I hoping the release it at the normal time so I can upgrade my work S6 to a Note8 instead. I would imagine any Samsung phone going forward will have the safest battery tech ever after this mess.

 

and it sounds like the Note 8 is going to be a beast! I've been running the Note 7 ROM on my Note 3 and
its great, but I think the Note 3 needs a bit more horsepower. I will happily upgrade to the Note 8.

Btw. How many of you android guys are on Verizon/cricket/USCc? Anyone remember what apps were preloaded on it?

 

My Pixel had no apps installed on it but my work S6 on Verizon has a ton of preloaded apps. Almost too many to list. I would say at least 12-15 apps came already installed. About 8-9 were Verizon specific apps with matching red logos.

 

A bunch, that's why I started buying my phone from Google... Well, that and the slow release schedule.

They had their Voicemail crap, the NFL app, their mobile/driving app (I actually liked that one), their backup app, VZNavigator,

 

I haven't been really following, but was the S8 announced?

The S8 cant get here fast enough. My S5 is starting to die... (been swimming with me countless times, through the wash and dryer 2 times, dropped, handled by kids, etc.. all without a case and never a broken screen) Needless to say, I need it to last until the S8 comes out

 

Damn, my S5 was a tank too, but I always kept it in an Otter Box anyway

 

My work S6 has been a tank for me but it needs replaced. The battery life is atrocious. It barely makes it 12hrs on a single charge with email and text coming in all day and only maybe 20min of phone calls. Hopefully the S8 has better battery life.

 

I had the same issue with my S5 after the OS updates

 

The best investment I ever made for my Note 4 was getting a 2nd battery with it's own charger. Sammy phones love sucking down battery after an OS update.

 

See I used to do that for all my phones. A second battery and a dedicated charger for that battery was a requirement. Started this back with Windows Mobile. My first phone I had that didn't have a removable battery was the HTC M8 and it wasn't bad at all. I still needed a usb battery pack on long days though. My Pixel XL is the first phone that 90% of the time I don't need a battery pack. I still keep one in the car when I travel but I don't use it near as much as I did before. In my opinion those are now bettery than a second battery. Especially with the fact you can have fast charge battery packs.

 

Give your Pixel some time. The battery eventually will fade like they all do.

 

^ The Truth. I notice a significant drop in battery life at about 1 year mark with pretty much every phone i have had.

 

Battery technology is what is holding back so many different gadgets and devices. If they advanced at even a quarter of the rate that processors did, we would have phones that charge to full within minutes and last for days with heavy usage by now. And they wouldn't go to shit after a year or two.
