I'm surprised he didn't think the Note 7 outperformed his old iPhone.

The wife and I were gonna get Note 7's together and I was gonna let my "old" MOTO Nexus 6 be my back up... I guess that is on hold for right now... I have always loved the Nexus line, but I stated using her Note and the pen has been a huge plus for me... BUT... I really do like the new Nexus phones' form factor... we shall see... anyhoo... long battery life and a huge screen is still the main draw for my Nexus... I think Samsung still has to fix the battery drain issues... but then my Nexus lacks all the bloatware too...

Hover boards were ON FIRE last year... which our daughter has and it has not caught fire but we have been careful when charging it too... LOL .. now this battery issue with the phones... as a side note, her Notes have always been alil HOT when charging ... at least hotter than I thought they should be... IMVHO ... anyone else had the same trouble?

Definitely going to miss the Nexus name.

I want a pure aluminum slab phone like my Pixel C and it needs to have the awesome light bar on the back too.

Reduce charge capacity by 40%?

Samsung's Note 7 Explosion Workaround Caps Charging at 60 Percent | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

Samsung's Note 7 Explosion Workaround Caps Charging at 60 Percent

A Samsung spokeswoman confirms that the company will release a Note 7 software update that will prevent the device from overheating (and exploding) by capping battery recharges at 60 percent. Timing of the update will vary by country, she said.

"In the US, Samsung is continuing to work with the [Consumer Product Safety Commission] and our carrier partners to develop and evaluate solutions that are best for US Note 7 owners," the spokeswoman said in an email to PCMag. "No action will be taken without the approval of the CPSC. Customer safety remains our top priority."

The CPSC last week urged "all consumers who own a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to power them down and stop charging or using the device."

In South Korea, the Note 7 anti-explosion update will begin rolling out Sept. 20, according to the Associated Press, which cites an ad Samsung took out on the front page of South Korean newspaper Seoul Shinmun. Those in possession of a recalled Note 7, however, should really power it down immediately and seek an exchange, Samsung says. Note 7 owners can return to wherever they purchased the device or call 1-800-SAMSUNG to get an exchange.

Goinge forward, shoppers can look for a few markings on the box of replacement units that will signify that the phone is not explosive. Those indicators include a small black square on the white barcode label and a white sticker with a blue letter "S."

As this thing drags on, Samsung will lose a lot of their customer base that they worked so hard to build over the years.

Hopefully their phone will get cheaper

Early info on my 6.0.1 ATT build. It seems slightly quicker than the previous OS. Entering/exiting apps and opening the app changer menu has a quicker animation. I didn't have the new stock launcher up because I was using Nova but I just switched back to see how it performs. I'll explore that and report back anything worth mentioning. It does seem to sip the battery juice a little harder. Phone was standby since maybe 1 or 2 am since I briefly woke up to unplug the phone to charge my backup battery. Only thing I did was snooze the alarm a few times and play 2 or 3 songs while sitting in traffic and it was down to 94%. Typically the phone would've been at 97% but small sample size. Fortunately the transition to new OS' on Android is quick and painless. It took about 40 mins to completely upgrade and other than updating some apps, which can be done while operating the phone, the phone was already ready to go with all settings intact.

Google needs to hurry up and get the Pixel phones on the market right now while this bad Samsung news is happening. Maybe they can still some market share. I doubt it but it could happen.

Dumbass question of the week. In Marshmallow how the eff to mute all notification sounds except text messages? I want my lollipop back!

(On the Note 4, the last, the best, the never exploding one.)

PS If I set to notifications to mute/none, it overwrites Textra too. It wasn't the case in lollipop

Hmm I never did that. I either put notifications on vibrate or turned them off in the app but that's a pain with a million apps.

Edit the DND settings for priority only and there is an option to allow specific messages from contacts or everyone.

It's better explained here: How to use Android Marshmallow's new notifications settings

So my wife's LG G4 took a dump. She got the endless boot loop issue, so I took the bricked phone to T-Mobile store to get a replacement.

They ordered replacement, but it was 10 day back order so I went to BB and picked up a nexus 6P. 10 days no phone is too long. She used the 6P for a couple of days and the replacement ending up being ready early.

I went to the store to pick up replacement and it was not a G4, but a brand new G5 (not refurbished). Score! Her phone was paid off so for $5 we got a brand new G5.

I returned the 6P since the G5 was such a good deal.

man what bad press for Samsung.

Yesterday on my flight home from Switzerland, both Swiss and Air Canada said that people with a Note 7 were not allowed to use or charge their phones.

idunno about you, you seem to dislike all things google.

it's just another chat app like whatsapp, fb messenger, groupme, etc.
the AI bot is cool, I cant wait 5-10 years from now where AI will be super integrated into our lives.

the incognito aspect of the chat is cool. traded boobie pictures and evidence disappears

but all in all, it's just another way for your same group of friends to contact you.

LG V20 specs wise is my fave. Supposedly boot loop fixed and it competes with Note 7 specs wise. If cheap there are a bunch of midrange $200-$300 that are being released from Moto, Blu, and some others I've seen announced.

I broke my screen last week. Just got it fixed and was speaking to a girl from verizon. My upgrade isn't ready until December but she said she'd hook me up.
Offered me iphone 6 for .99 or 6plus 32g for 99.00.

The phone is too small for my liking, but my wife likes it a lot. She likes it much better than her G4. The battery lasts much longer on the G5 even though is a little smaller.
The slimmed down version of LG's UX is makes it better than the G4, IMO. I've been a Nexus user for quite a while now and I could never go back anything other than straight android.

^i think the split screen in Nougat is more for the laptops that run android.
Most apps on my phone dont support the dual/split screen.
if you try it by long pressing the square button, you can swipe one app up top and one app down low

I found it useful for copying phone numbers in APPS that dont support copy and paste.

I wanted to "jump" over the weekend, so I went to Tmobile to see if they released the V20 yet.

They don't have a confirmed date yet and obviously no note 7. The idea of getting the iphone 7 plus flashed in my head for about half a second and i walked out.
