^^It's 4.4. I said it in the post, even linked to it.
Here, I'll quote it in case you didn't see it the first time...

I know. Why is it a new version and not an update?

Also, this is just awesome:
Turns out, no money changed hands between the 2 companies, just mutual respect and marketing genius minds.

I think they leave the 1,2,3,4... designation for design changes. Since each number update had a design change.
I'm guessing Google's design philosophy for how Android should look is still the same, but I'm sure there will be tweaks and such for consistency and updating some things. But as an operating system on a whole, it will have the same look.
But because it has a name change, it should be pretty significant from a optimization/features standpoint.

Kind of odd they would choose a trademarked brand instead of a generic dessert.
#8892
Goodbye.
What is a generic Kit Kat?

I didn't know what an eclair was until android came out with that name. Since they were so open to changing the name of key lime pie, they could have changed it to any other "k" dessert like kolache or krumkake.
...ok maybe KitKat wasn't so bad.
It just seems weird to me that they are going start using other people's brands on their own software names.

To be fair, they never said this a beginning trend. They all just love eating Kit Kats, the opportunity arose, and this fit perfectly with their naming scheme.
I'm pretty sure if they all ate an abundance of Klondikes then we easily could be saying "What would you do for a Klondike phone?"

I would think that other candy/dessert companies would love to jump in and get their name on a google software version. It's a great marketing technique. I bet there are a bunch that have already started throwing money at google to use their name for whatever "L" is.

Google loves stealing other companies thunder haha
That LG Nexus 5 camera lens looks oddly huge. I'm curious how similar it will be to the G2 though. They obviously went for a different design point.

Thoughts on IFA so far: I'd take the Z1 over the Note3. Galaxy Gear is definitely new, but being 1st gen, it still needs a lot of work to be worth it. Sony's QX10 and QX100 lenses should win the award for best of show (and why hasn't anyone done this till now?). Seriously, those lenses are amazing and finally something that is new and not rehashed.

Yeah the Note 3 is impressive overall but IMO not worth an upgrade from a Note 2 anytime soon. I never use my stylus pen so I really don't think I'd use the new pen features although I'm glad they're expanding on that and making it more useful. It's amazing that it's a bigger screen yet thinner and lighter And since I'm used to the big screen not sure if I'd go Xperia Z1 even though 5" is a pretty good size. Why are they guessing T-Mo for the X-Z1? Is it the LTE and 3G bands that it supports or something?

I use the S-pen a lot and like it....I have the orignial Note and didnt get the Note II but the Note III seems like a HUGEEEE upgrade....
you get a metal body, better processor, more ram...not to mention more features from the S-suite....you can get a watch with it....also not considering the Android upgrades you will be getting....

I'm Down Right Fierce!
not to be cocky, but if you dont use the S-pen, you dont need a note....you will do just fine with a Galaxy S4 or a tab....

The S-Pen isn't the sole selling factor for the Note - its that goddamn screen size. I used the Note 2 for only 4 months before I got the itch for a new phone. When I looked at my options (S4/HTC One X/Nexus4) I couldn't get over how small the screens were... I ended up getting another 5.5 inch screen phone (LG OG Pro).
I gave my wife the Note 2, and she really hated Android (was a long time Iphone user) but after using the Note 2 for just one month, she admitted that she couldn't go back to an iphone due to the screen size difference.
When you realize that 5.5 inches isn't "too big" for daily use, you begin to think that all other phones are too small. I'm afraid if I get the Note 3, I won't be able to downsize from a 5.7 inch screen....

well its not all about the screen size I feel....the original Note (like any new phone) had issues with lagging and shitty battery life....
the Note 2 fixed that and gave it a little larger screen....
The Note 3 does not only upgrade the processor, the ram, the design, S suite, but also gives a slight bump in screen size while keeping it lighter....IMO its an upgrade....
+1 on the wifey(s)....my wife has been using the S4 and temporarily am using a her old iphone 4....so when she went to mess with it, she was like "how do you mange using this phone, the screen is sooo small"....I think the S4 screen size if perfect for chics....the Note looks a little big in their hands...but hey, personal preference right

Yeah Bravedemon nailed it. I see my friends' S4's and they're tiny IMO. And I don't think a lot of women like the Note 2's size with their smaller hands. It's hard enough for me to reach the top corner opposite my hand imagine them.
