It's a shame because there are some legitimately good story lines to talk about this this game. This whole ball incident has nothing to do with the game on Sunday. It's not going to be ruled on before then anyway, so maybe we might actually move on to other topics this week.

For a second, you started to sound like a forty niner fan.

Talking about super bowl rings, not vending machine rings.

Okay, okay - exclude Steelers, Cowboys and 49ers regarding rings but not appearances.

I agree. I understand supporting his organization, his team, his players but why poke the head of the NFL??

I can't think of a single example where an embattled leader took a stance that his organization was pure top-to-bottom and turned out to be correct. He's simply not in a strong position because he has to be 100% correct about everything he knows and doesn't know, and all the NFL has to do to make him look like an idiot is find a single, low level person that Kraft might not even know exists who admits to tampering with the balls.

His ego got the best of him.

Look, sure...it may be overblown...but, passing the sniff test, let's see here: You have a control-freak coach who lives, breathes, eats, has-sex with, and is married to the game of football. You have a QB who lives, breathes, eats, has-sex with (when not with Giselle), and is also married to the game of football.

The most microscopic detail of each game...down to the cleats...the fabric of the jockstrap is accounted for.

And both have zero knowledge of someone softening their balls? Yeah okay. And BoostedJack is my brother from another mother.

What I find laughable, is that people are acting like this is the first time they would have deflated the balls, for a 51 deg rainy afternoon game? I doubt it, if they are in fact deflating the balls after the league officials inspect them (which signifies cheating, since they're deliberately doing something after passing the balls off at a certain pressure and altering them after inspection) then they've been doing it for years, this is not the first time someone just decided to deflate the balls ALL to the same exact lower pressure. Not to mention, do you think the equipment manager (who is going to be the fall guy) is going to deflate the balls without being specifically told to do so or to what specification that the QB would want them at? Don't tink so

I can't wait for the "well, dude...everyone does it!" counter. Cheating is cheating. Don't give a fark if everyone else is doing it. It's against the rules written for the game. Period.

And if other teams are doing it and have not been caught? Well, shame on those teams too.

Could be his ego, or could be utter frustration.

I know this will be difficult for some, but imagine if you can that the Patriots had absolutely nothing to do with deflating the footballs. Think about that for a couple of minutes............
Now add a week plus of accusations and distractions from what should be the most important game of your season. It has likely changed the whole environment/atmosphere for the team/organization. At some point everyone reaches a breaking or point where they have had enough.

Supposedly every team does something with the game balls, but the Patriots are being singled out. The Patriots team footballs were switched out prior to the half. I haven't seen or heard anyone say that the footballs impacted the game or the score.

Theoretically and supposedly you are innocent until proven guilty...............
If the NFL decides they were involved and are guilty of tampering with the footballs and/skirting the rules, then they will be fined, loose future draft picks etc..... And i am on board and in full support of this. If they are found innocent or having had nothing to do with this, then it is unfortunate their SuperBowl experience has been so tainted and/or associated with this so called "deflate-gate."

Time will tell, but I'm personally more interested and looking forward to a good game on Sunday night.

Well, hate to say this: This is the NFL. One of THE most marketed and hyped professional sports leagues (if not the most) on the planet. Any team is going to be under the microscope and even more so given the high-profile games being played (playoffs). Compound this with the fact that certain teams receive more press than others (i.e. Cowboys, Bears, Patriots, Steelers, Packers).

So, no offense to your "beleaguered" team but, if they can't handle the heat...get the heck out of the kitchen. And again, I must ask: while sure, it's remotely possible the culprits are innocent in this, the smell test is not passing given the fact that an equipment manager/ball boy has zero motivation or need to go deflate the footballs for HIS team unless someone (i.e. athlete/coach) has instructed them to do so.

And to make matters worse, you have opposing teams (sure, accuse them of sour grapes) accusing your team of deflating the footballs. How many other losing teams you can recall has made a complaint like this if the excuse is "everyone is doing it"...?

C'mon man...but, sounds like myopia here.

In addition, why would the NFL owe him an apology? The NFL is doing what it should be doing - investigating the issue and reporting what it knows. The media is the one that's made this a 24-hr a day non-stop circus. I thought his ultimatum targeting the NFL was idiotic. Maybe the press owes him an apology. Maybe.

As far as I know, has the NFL even said anything offensive/accusatory about the Patriots? They've only officially said they are investigating it. Period.

So, yeah...Kraft is a bit twitchy, isn't he?

This team has already been caught cheating, trying to give themselves a competitive advantage, hence the reason they are "being singled out". However like Yum said, I haven't heard anyone in the league accuse them of anything, just saying that they're investigating it. Yes, every team does things to the balls, BEFORE they're inspected. The question is, did they do something to them AFTER they were inspected and approved by league officials, that by definition would be cheating. From everything I'm seeing, it sure seems that way. That is what the league is trying to find out, no?

I hear you and agree with most of your post. I'm not saying everyone is doing it is an excuse, but more of let's apply the rules equally to all teams and all games. I mentioned it in one of my earleir posts, but a ballboy somewhere is going to bear the brunt of this at some point - regardless of the outcome. Maybe we can thank the Patriots for the fact that properly inflated footballs will more than likely not be an issue going forward -

Agree and as I mentioned above, I'm not sure I understand Kraft's statement/press conference. Maybe blowing off steam or perhaps he doesn't like the integrity of his organization being questioned And if they aren't found culpable I don't see the NFL apologizing anyway.

I think you are missing his point. All of this is taking away from the Super Bowl, not the Kind Okay Bowl or The America's Tire of South Los Angeles Kid's Cancer Research Bowl. It's the fucking Super Bowl, and here we are talking about balls and testicles. WTF has happened to football?

I refuse to root for the Patriots as much as anyone else. If they are found to have cheated, discipline them. But in the mean time, could we possibly talk about the line, over-under, game changing match-ups, or potential ways Richard Sherman could break his ankle?

Cheese and rice...

Fair enough. So, again...here's the question: Why were the Pats so stupid/arrogant to cheat and cause this now to happen?

And holy, was there a football game? Cuz, seriously...I'm now obsessed with the softness of Brady's supple balls.

I think there is a reasonable chance Sherman could break his ankle on a post-interception celebration after coming down from a shoulder bump mid-air.
