NBA Offseason Thread (Trades, Free Agents, Rumors)
It's starting to be very interesting already. The free agent period has begun. Elton Brand and Cory Magette opt out. In a surprising move, Baron Davis opts out and walks away from 17+ million dollars.

damn brand and magette. I wonder if anyone will step up and sign them. I'd love to see magette on the lakers, as they really don't have a good small forward, or someone else willing to drive to the rim and go to the line.
It'll be hard for me to like the clips without them though, so i hope somehow they stay. Why resign Nick Fazekas and Marcus Williams?. At least I still like livingston and thornton, but i haven't even heard if livingston will be around or healthy. I hope they're 2nd pick jordan gets some playing time, cause he has the potential to be very fun to watch. If they keep smush parker I might have to turn my back on the clips unless they pick up some more people I like (ie. josh smith, baron davis, gilbert arenas) but we'll probably end up w/ ron artest or something

Yeah Baron REALLY wants to win a championship and is willing to take a cut in pay. But he also wants to be a leader so considering the position he plays, the team he goes to will need to sign him ASAP to revamp their offense so it can work well with Baron. He's a heck of a player.
I think he can see how the future with Golden State will be.....they'll just be a tad above .500 team that won't get a good seed and seems like alot of guys just avoid Golden State in general.

Baron's pretty much a younger version of Sam Cassell (ball-hogging PG)... maybe he should go to Boston?

Yeah I was thinking Boston too. Ha that'd be nuts. Ball hogger yeah just a little but better than Steve Francis that's for sure.
I'm very happy for the Celtics

He will not go to a non championship contending team.. He left 17.8 million on the table so it isnt about the money.. Lol clippers.. Dont even start what a joke..
Im thinking Boston or LA ... Since SA Hornets and Pistons have a dominant point guard (Paul Parker Billups)
Baron Kobe Lamar Pau Bynum that will be a hell lot team.. then trade lamar + farmar for artest
Baron Kobe Artest Pau Bynum BAM

i think lakers have enough depth. say a such trade goes down to get the matrix into la, from the bench: we have a defender(ariza) and a shooter(radmanovic). perhaps gets some minutes to coby? and lakers would lose some facilitators but kobe/marion can share some time to manage the bench when needed.

Just reported that Chris Paul has agreed to a max contract extension with the Hornets. It is unknown if the contract is a 4 or 5 deal.

GSW reportedly offered Agent 0 a max contract over 100 million. The Wiz has offered him around 126 million. Gilbert is pondering......
Update
Gilbert may have accepted Wiz's 6 year 127 million offer.

Yea it sounds like you have no idea why the GSW couldn't sign Gilbert back.

My brother-in-law is one "hella" proud GSW fan and NorCal guy. We talk about all Gilbert all the time. So it ain't just me saying that; my GSW/NorCal folks say it too.
You can worry about the excuses the Warriors make....trust me, I hear it all the time. If they wanted to make it happen, they would have.
Peace

Relax? I am not bother at all. You just said something that made you sound like you do not know much about Arenas and the Warriors. If you really want me to break it down to you, fine.
1st round draft pick players in their 3rd year in the NBA become restricted free agents. What this means is that their current team has the right to match any contract offers from other teams.
The problem with Arenas and the Warriors was that Gilbert was a 2nd round draft pick. The situation back then was that the current team does not have the right to match any offer if their 2nd round pick players sign with another team. That example was Gilbert Arenas. So if you are able to put 1 and 1 together, and I assume you can, there was no way that warriors could have retained Gilbert due to Washington's large contract offer and the GSW's salary situation.
Since then, the league has made "The Gilbert Arenas" rule allowing the team to match contract offers even if they are 2nd round picks. This would prevent up and coming players from jumping ship. Example? The GSW would have the right to match any contract offered to 2nd rounder Monta Ellis this year.
So you are your brother are "hella" proud eh? what are you guys actually proud about?
What are your GSW/Norcal folks saying?
