Sorry Moog. Don't mean to be vague. In my personal opinion, growing up in the 80s as a fan of the Dodgers, Lakers, and Kings, that loyalty to those 3 teams is paramount. However, the as a diehard Laker fan, I feel any ties to the Laker legacy are more special than most.
The Kings and Lakers were sister organizations under Jack Kent Cooke. He later sold both (and the Forum) to Jerry Buss. There has always been mutual admiration between organizations.
I may not be a fan of hockey, but I'm certainly a Kings fan. Its probably old fashioned on my part, but being a fan of 1 means being a fan of the other. Newer Kings fans want to have an antagonistic relationship with the Lakers, but that wasn't always the case.
Anyways....continue with the ridicule....

We'll see what happens. The SSOL offense was great with the greyhounds that were in Phoenix during the 2005-2007 season, but the '12-'13 Lakers are a bunch of old vet dogs what always worked with Phil.
I do like the offense though.
Mike Antoni, lol.....its fun being a Lakers fan, one way or the other. There's been enough drama for the entire season, and its only the 7th game!

I don't want Magic doing anything but advocating for AIDS/HIV or putting together business deals. Him and MJ can't coach or run a franchise....they were just too good.
Guys like Riles, Jackson, Kupchak....those guys are the best coaches or GMs.
Astronauts are good at going into space, but I don't want them in Mission Control.

Whoa... I must be a prophet...
I was totally joking about the D'antoni thing, and after I heard P Jax was talking with the lakers, I was 99% sure he'd be returning.
Guess Jim Buss and P Jax do hate each other...

So skip the coach with the most championships for a guy who coaches his teams with little or no defense......meanwhile the Lakers play no defense and it's one of their bigger problems....
great choice!
great choice!

Most Kings fans could care less about the Lakers.
Most Lakers fans have no idea what the sport of hockey is, and think the Kings are in Sacramento.

This is a concern I've been reading. Apparently Mitch wanted him too and his choice was unanimous between him and the Buss'

Its not really news to me. But I won't change the way I think about it. The Kings and Lakers are associated on many, many levels and to be honest, I think everyone else is an idiot for not thinking that way.
I think the truth however is more like this:
The Lakers fan doesn't know there's a hockey team until they do something special (its LA, we put ice in our drinks not skate around on it) and the Kings/Clippers fan hate the Lakers for their obnoxious fans (I do too PLENTY of times, as everyone knows).

For you basketball-heads:
I think this speaks more about Gasol being expendable. The choice was between the Triangle or something faster, based on Nash, Kobe, and Howard. That's why Mitch and Jim Buss went with D'antoni.
Gasol could be traded for faster pieces that fit. They've been trying to trade him for the past 2 years. Nash is old, but isn't too old to play his style of play (shooting and passing never go away). Kobe fits anything. Howard isn't Shaq....he doesn't have the game to anchor the Triangle like Shaq did.
However, Gasol was the one that was a perfect Triangle, triple post player. Without PJax, he's a good player, but less important.

Oh and btw, if anyone remembers playing fantasy basketball back in the mid-2000s, the statistical bump up from running SSOL offense is something worth looking at now.
They'll be hoisting 3s, gathering assists, and there will be more possessions per game to get rebounds, steals, blocks, etc.

FWIW, I hope the Lakers merge with LeBron when his contract is up.

I know that the Heat is merging with AM. Making the LeBron DBS and its ring gaskets will be in 20 karat gold. But its transmission will wait until it can make a decision publicly.
You can keep wishing that. Or the Colombian cartel is "somebody gonna get hurt real bad, somebody, i not gonna saym Oh i think you know him very well".
