i have a feeling he'll be successful as a coach, whether it's as an assistant or head coach later on.

but yea....kudos for PJ to sticking with fisher, who had been for most of the playoffs.

I think looking at this series, it might have been more interesting to speculate what if Ariza had not been hurt when the Lakers played the Celtics.

Of course, its speculation. You run what you brung.

yea it's a very tricky situation if LA has to let one go.

ariza is 7 years younger, blossoming into a great defender, knows his role, improved shooting, very athletic.

but LO is just a mismatch on both ends. he's tall and long. can shoot, post, drive, pass, and defend when he wants to. very inconsistent. but he does help the local economy's candy industry.

tough call.

Well, Houston isn't so bad. I remember when the Rockets won the back to back championships, most fans celebrated without damaging public property. The most I remember happening were a few drunken arrests and minor fights over rival fans.

We never burned down buildings, cars, and flipped them over. So, not all championship fans lose there senses after the trophy.

Kinda depends on a number of things. Affluence, attitude, years since winning anything, poor inner-city core, the team's image, number of males between 18-25, etc.

otherwise it's goodbye ariza, because we can always find a 3 point shooter and a good hustle player
odom is just the glue that holds us together, especially when he comes of the bench, adding that extra lightning jolt to the lineup.

i'm wondering what bynum is going to do next year when he's making 15 mill...his impact, or lack thereof, will be huge and how it ties into whether scrodum and ariza stay or go will determine if the lakes can repeat.

what do u guys think kobe will do when he retires? i can't see him as a coach really.

i don't think so.

great players like him hardly make good coaches.

good questions.

as for bynum:
clearly, the guy's talented and isn't the bum that kobe called him a few years ago. kareem's done good things with him, and when healthy, he's skilled, has a nice, soft touch, and can score.

but i question his toughness. i think he's in a good situation in LA. there's not a lot of pressure on him with guys like kobe and pau there. he just needs to stay healthy. i don't see why he can't or shouldn't average at least 15 and 8 each night when he's getting minutes.

i believe LA can make another run next season, and he'll play a big part of that. he just needs to keep improving, play consistent D, and stay healthy.

as for kobe post-career:
i wouldn't be surprised if he played in europe. without a salary cap there, the european clubs have the most money to offer. heck, i wouldn't be surprised if he ended up owning a club in europe too.

but i don't see him in a coaching role.

dunno about nash. dude doesn't know how to play defense.

otherwise, i actually think he could make a good coach. i remember reading some articles about former point guard that eventually become good or successful coaches.

he's also likeable and has a high basketball iq.

i guess he can be one of those coaches that try to win games 151-146.

I think Kobe can be a pretty good coach or GM. He may be a great player, but the fact remains that he's been humbled more so than any great player

The only player that's lost more was Jerry West and while he didn't necessarily coach that well, he's shaped the Lakers for the past 40 years and built the greatest NBA team ever.

I like Jedi's post-career idea though, and add 1 thing: I think he might own a football club in Europe. However, I do think he'll stay connected with the Lakers somehow. He's already committed his whole career life to them, and most Laker Legends tend to gravitate back.

reasons why i think he can be a good coach is that he's probably the most fundamentally sound player i've seen in my life, he knows his x's and o's, knows how to run an offense, play defense, and has such high basketball iq.

however, i think there is truth to the saying that great players demand greatness from their teammates and eventually those they coach. that's why kobe was so frustrated with his team pre-gasol and bynum. i can totally see him becoming frustrated with a group of players that don't have the drive and will to match his. that's why i dunno if he'd coach.

what's ironic is that if he does decide to be a GM or some front office role, he'll obviously be compared to MJ. but he'll do MUCH better. i don't think anyone can judge talent as badly as mike.

and good call on owning a soccer club. unless he's taking on a small club, he'll need hundreds and hundreds of millions to just be a minority owner. but i can see him doing it.

but when he's 50 or so, i think he'll be back with the lakers in some capacity.
