Some pretty good fights all around on the card. There wasn't any fights I would have called boring. The ear for an Eye fight was probably the biggest disappointment of the night just because she "could" have kept fighting, it's not like she tore a muscle, broke a bone, had both eyes swollen shut... Not that I disagree with the stoppage, it's just a sucky reason to have to stop the fight.

I liked big john taking the 2 points for the head butt in whatever match that was, "I don't give a shit what he says, it was an intentional butt, 2 points."

That was a weird fucking fight. I thought Hendricks won it for sure because the judges usually side with the grind, plus I thought Big Rig out-struck Robbie in half the rounds, especially the 3rd.. it's like Robbie was trying to rope-a-dope.. I guess it worked.. Big Rig was gassed in the last two rounds. I wanted Robbie to win but definitely feel bad for Big Rig.. Rubber match!

Yeah, the judges totally ignored the wrestling.. which I think is good. I mean, you're there to fight.. not hold somebody because you might be winning. Sometimes I wish it was street rules (whoever gets their ass kicked in the end loses).

Take Mir Cormier fight.. that was the most boring fight I have ever watched. All Cormier did was hold Mir against the fence.

I will say though.. to the judge who scored it 49-46.. fuck you.

Yeah, that's the thing, I think the judges are like me. Take downs that go no where aren't worth much, stalling the fight against the cage isn't controlling the ring, come out and fight and get some points. If the match was scored over who was hurt the most after 25 minutes Lawler wins it

and he did.

And 49-46 could be a 10-8 round in the 5th

10-8 I could definitely understand. But.. no.

At least he did give round 3 to Big Rig.. he absolutely won that round. Big Rig did say that he tried to wrestle the decision and conceded that's what did him in.

I have no idea who CM Punk is.. but JDF.. fuck yeah!

I'm sure CM Punk is a tough guy being a pro wrestler and all.. but he's going to be in a world of hurt against a seasoned martial artist like JDF. I don't think DW would sanction a fight for a highly visible fighter unless it was evenly weighted. He'd bring in Jose Canseco before he brought in JDF to fight the guy.

Well it is the ultimate fighting championship, not the ultimate defending championship or the ultimate don't let that guy hurt you championship. Lawler came to fight, Hendricks came to not get beat up.

Dan Le Batard of ESPN/Miami sports talk radio was giving Dana shit about not having superstars to the casual MMA fan. Maybe Dana wanted to make a splash with another pro wrestler. But he's nowhere near as experienced as Brock.

From the looks of it, this guy is just a backyard wrestler. Lesnar is an accomplished wrestler.. NCAA division I champ that is. He also does catch wrestling. Plus he's a huge fucking guy. This CM punk guy is a joke in my book.. we'll see.

At one time Mark Hunt and Cung Le were gimmicks since they didn't have a ground game.. No one is laughing at them now. But they were thrown cans or strikers for their first fights. Now they have sufficient ground game to defend and keep it standing. It's a dog fight in there.. whoever wants it, can get it.

Very true that CM has no real athletic pedigree (unless you count pro fake wrestling). He is however in good physical shape and appears to be a strong person. You never know what a good trainer can do with a potentially good fighter, maybe he's got a chin like an anvil I'm sure it was never tested for the WWE

Yes he has athleticism and money so maybe he'll get trained up in 6-8 months and fight a few cans. However a lot of the MMA fighters were either star wrestlers or long time martial artists. Can you really be blue belt BJJ in less than a year?

In many gracie schools, yes. Blue belt waters are about as deep as black belt though. It doesn't mean anything truly. I've seen whites beat blue and I've seen some blues beat purple.

Look at liera jr.. my boy trains with him at atos.. he's a purple belt but fucking destroys everyone in tournament, he's done so at every belt level. He even submits black betls. Last ibjff tourney he went to, he submitted all his competitors. Of course he's training with some of the best, but he's a prodigy. For most people it takes many years of continuous and hard training. It's the ultimate game. I practice move after move, but when it comes to a good roll.. I'm still humbled how the guys I roll with know my every move. I go in survival mode 99% of the time. Then you get some meathead white belt who thinks they'll fucking blow through you.. choke that bitch out.

Fucking Jon Jones.. last FN several years back, he rolls with Tim Kennedy at our now defunct gym Tim trained out.. Tim is a pretty high level jits no-gi fighter. He destroys everyone.. Jones whipped his ass on the mat. That's athleticism at it's best.. sharp mind, sharp body.. and Jones only just started jits at that time, heck he just started rolling in a gi. This CM guy better hope he has that same gene.

Of course the original prodigy.. BJ.. shiet. He earned his black belt in less than 4 years (3 yrs 4 months to be exact). Why? because he was kicking everyone's ass.. He can't be that good right? Why not go to Brazil, kick everyone's ass there at the Mundials (World BJJ tourney) being the first non-Brazilian to do so.. obrigado brah. Oss!

Yeah, I'm no wrestling fan, at least not since rowdy roddy hung up his kilt. I recognize cm punk as a name I've heard or read. Still, you never know who might be a badass until they get in the octagon.

It just occurred to me while reading another article... How can you not give him a chance Majofo?

Your endorsing a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger

Who woulda thought any of the Power Rangers would have actually been badasses

Put him in the cage and lets see what he's got. He knows it isn't WWE, he's a professional, I'm sure he doesn't want to be embarrassed. Worst case scenario, he gets his ass thoroughly kicked, wrapped up, and served to him while choked out and bloody for some great PPV sales when you add in his WWE fans

You don't know about JDF? Guy is a legit life long martial artist. He also has several MMA fights under his belt (unofficial 7-0), all cans, but they're all wins by KO or subs. You might say he has more experience, but he's also 41. Make it happen DW!

Decent night of fights last night. Dos Santos was impressive in the main event. Not really for how well he fought but for being able to win despite taking that much damage.

bruh.. taking damage is what he does best.

He's lucky stipe didn't have the wrestling skills and gas tank of Cain. Now that was a one-sided ass whooping.

I think JDS could have finished stipe if he pressured the knockdown but I'm sure JDS didn't want to risk gassing out. I also think if he worked more combos, he could have fucked up stipe. His 3 punch combos really made their mark. Most of his punches were telegraphed jab overhand. Stipe saw those a mile away.

Feel bad for Nate.. he should have checked those leg kicks. Overall, great main card.

Overroid looked good.. very patient, came in with a gameplan and executed. I didn't catch the prelims.

I was watching Nates fight with a buddy who likes mma but doesn't follow it. I had to try to explain how once Nates legs were hurt, he was more dangerous but he never really got anything going. He's like a cornered animal. Isn't that the fight where 2 judges called it 30-26?
