Rangers are looking like they're taking the W.S. this year.

Interesting read. I wonder what the terms of Braun's contract are... $15.7M a year is an absolute steal for his abilities.

And he's only 27. He's got probably 6 or so years before the skills regress significantly (assuming no injury).

^Bay and Santana have pretty big contracts.

I'm surprised more Cubs aren't on that list. Jim Hendry has fucking the team over with bad deals for years...Soriano, Zambrano, Fukudome, Milton Bradley, etc.
Not to mention promoting Quade to mgr.

Last night I watched the new ESPN film 30 for 30 called "The Dotted Line". It went into the world of the sports agent and how they can help or hurt players and sports in general. They talked about Johan Santana and his huge contract and how agents buy college players. I thought it was good. But then again, that series hasn't had one bad film yet. On a plus side it was directed by one of my favorite film directors, Morgan Spurlock.

Although the Rangers lost, Nelson Cruz had another homer. I think that is five in this series.

I'm glad the article did mention him interviewed for Pawtucket.

This is happening. Just a matter of when.

Cruz is the only Ranger to homer in the series thus far. Tigers are not dead yet.

Yea Cruz has 5 homers in 5 games.

This is a great series. Two great teams battling it out.

When that ball hit the 3rd base bag and bounced over Beltre I was like not our night. It was a good effort making it a closer game later on and we had our chance in the 9th but the Tigers were hotter last night.

But I think it is nice that we get to end it in 6 in front of the home fans

I really want to see the Brewers in the series against Detroit. It's good to have different teams every year in the WS.

So much hotstove baseball and it aint even that time yet?!?!

They're not dead yet, but they're barely breathing.

I would like to see it go to a game seven to add to the drama, but with the Rangers winning in the end.

Last year S.F. was playing phenomenal throughout the postseason, but I don't really get that sense from either STL or MIL can match up well with the Rangers. I think it may the Rangers year this year.

Well, considering I hate the Cards as much as I hate the Green Bay Fackers, Apple...yeah, I'll be rooting for the Rangers.

Go Dallas!

Certainly looks that way. TX is one beast of a hitting team, and I hope our bats can stay hot early because we're going to need the runs. Oh, and thanks to Mr Fielder for the home field advantage.

It will be a tough series no doubt, seems like it will be more of battle of the bats rather than battle of the pitchers.

And I still think the rule of whoever wins the All Star game getting home field advantage is one of the worst rules in sports. It should definitely be who had the better regular season record.

Good game. I did not expect the pitching to be so good this game. And also a good battle of the minds with the mangers. You won this game St. Louis!

One strategy I didn't understand is why Washington put German in to bat in the 8th instead of someone with experience hitting like Torrealba.

Oh and I forgot to add, Berkman's 'hit' which let to 2 runs was really a foul ball. Can't believe they missed it. . I noticed a few bad calls by the umpires throughout the game...

Post Epstein to be New Cubs President; Hoyer to be GM...

So far so good. We have real baseball people leading up the operations...which is what the Cubs desperately need.

Next step: building a contender. And that's way harder...

You and everybody else. The analyst were saying that Washington was playing a strategy and LaRussa didn't bite.

FTA: Washington explained his decision by saying that German is a contact hitter whom he thought had a better chance against Rzepczynski's off-speed stuff. "Can you guarantee me that if I used Torrealba he would have done anything different?'' Washington said. "I used the guy I thought could get me a base hit.''
