Just read the entire excerpt from from the soon-to-be published book about Bonds and his doping on CNNSI...

Wow. It almost makes me feel kinda sad for the guy...but, almost.

I think they just wanna try and make the guy fail so much it's ridiculous. He is gonna break the record and they should just get over it.

I don't think they should get over it - he's a racist shithead who's also a cheater. He deserves everything he's getting and then some.

You're kidding right? So, you want a cheater to break one of baseball's most important records...

I don't have an opinion on performance enhancing for baseball but Bonds did NOT cheat. The stuff he was taking was not banned by baseball. Baseball is also at fault due to their lackadaisacal drug policy (before Congress). Just clarifying this but not giving my opinion on the subject.

What about Mark McGwire?? Nobody said anything until he retired and still is slated to be a Hall of Famer on the his first chance to get in. Until they have a picture of him with a trainer sticking a needle in his ass or on audio or video tape admitting to do so, they don't have concrete proof and just need to leave him alone. You can speculate but there is no concrete proof only joe schmoe sports writers saying he did it and the stupid company that got busted.

Steroids were banned by baseball as an illegal drug, generally. He was breaking the law when he took them. So he broke MLB's rules which prohibit illegal drug use, plain and simple. Citing MLB's lack of specificity or failure to enforce is a cop out. We have enough BB apologists in the Bay Area as it it.

Probably not, unless he was doing it after 2002.

That shithead is a different story altogether.

Don't steroids require some sort of schedule while you're taking them? Isn't the offseason too short to get an effective result?

Meh. His excuse is at least valid since he can't read or speak English.

I don't get how committing illegal acts, federal offenses probably, in order to help your baseball game is not considered cheating.

I bet baseball has no rule disallowing you to shoot other people (lets just say it doesn't hypothetically), even though its against federal law. So using your logic if someone while running to first base pulled out a gun, and shot everyone in his path and ended up scoring, even though he committed a federal crime in order to help his team win, since baseball had no "will not kill people while playing" rule its not cheating and he should be allowed to keep his run?

Or you want a more realistic situation: Should Tonya Harding have been allowed to compete. I bet the USFSA had no rule saying "you're not allowed to hire a goon to take out a fellow skater" even though that also is illegal. So they shouldn't have banned her for getting an illegal edge right because it wasn't outlawed by the USFSA?

Has anybody got their Sports Illustrated with this story yet? I got the email from them but I usually get the magazine right afterwards.

Just wondering if mine is late or not...

MLB rule 7.08

http://www.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/of...s/runner_7.jsp

(a). APPROVED RULING: When a batter becomes a runner on third strike not caught, and starts for his bench or position, he may advance to first base at any time before he enters the bench. To put him out, the defense must tag him or first base before he touches first base. (b) He intentionally interferes with a thrown ball; or hinders a fielder attempting to make a play on a batted ball; A runner who is adjudged to have hindered a fielder who is attempting to make a play on a batted ball is out whether it was intentional or not.

You should get Sporting News. For the NFL and MLB they have notes for every team every month. This month they're doing a free agent breakdown for every NFL team. It's awesome.

Anyone else excited about how the Sox have been doing so far in the WBC?
Ortiz with a few homeruns, Tek with a GS, Adam Stern definitely shooting for a spot in the starting lineup after the US-Canada game...

Good research. Should've used a better example. Alright what if his teammate shoots the players? or if a jack bauer in the stands with a sniper rifle does so? Or if the a player from the fielding team is paid off to shoot them? I'm sure there's something blatantly illegal that you would say "Time to cancel this game and award the non offending team the victory" thats not in the rule book.

"If I was the opposite gender, I'd be chasing him. I'd be dating him. But I'm not, so I don't. But I'm making the point. This guy's got a ton of personality. He's really a neat guy. The players have enjoyed him from Day 1. He's smart and he's funny. I really appreciate everything about him."

Hmm I'll have to check out Sporting News. Thanks for the referral guys.

Oh and I blame Buck Martinez on the U.S. loss to Canada. Why would you put in Al Leiter when there are plenty of other more qualified pitchers to choose from in that situation.
