As weak as they have been, the years they won the series they had some really powerful rosters. Then they had fire sales.

Anyone went to the Orioles game yesterday?

Anyone went to this Orioles game last night when about 1000 fans walked out of the game? Talk about disgruntled.

whenever you pass a guy like Jimmie Foxx your damn good and doing something right.Jimmie had some great years with the A's also.(not Oakland though)

Quick Read for everyone:
When the Great Depression hit, A's owner Connie Mack softened the blow to his pocketbook by selling off some of his star players. In 1936, Mack sold Foxx's contract to the Boston Red Sox for $150,000 following a contract dispute.

Foxx played six years in Boston, including a spectacular 1938 season in which he hit 50 home runs, drove in 175 runs, batted .349, won his third MVP award, and narrowly missed winning the Triple Crown. In 1939 he hit .360, his second all-time best annual batting average. His 50 home runs would remain the single-season record for the Red Sox until David Ortiz hit 52 in 2006.

We have a great scouting organization. So many studs come out of here. We're a factory. Plus we've had 2 great GM's. Dombrowski turned around the Tigers and Beinfest has a WS ring and this year under his belt. Both WS teams were with a combo of prospects and vets.

Great free agent aquisitions helped alot also,A young Moises Alou,Gary Sheffield and Bobby Bo in 97 (even Kevin Brown ).........plus signing Ivan Rodriguez for the other title.

Well, probably. And considering how one-sided the relationship likely is, does he even ever have a comeback...?

He'll take it and like it.

Well, we were woot-wooting about Baker too. So, the manager is not as big a deal to me as what Henry will do to fix up this team. They need help in so many ways...

Let's hope Wood doesn't come back and Prior gets traded. The Cubs could also use Aramis as trade bait to get some healthy quality pitchers for a change.

Then we could hope that both the Cubs and White Sox get into the playoffs in the same year much like the Mets and Yankees are doing this yr. I want to see an Chicago World Series! (But probably not going to happen)

on trading Wood. I'm not quite yet ready to give up on Prior. But, if he's injured yet again...

Immediate shopping list: Leadoff hitter, a starter, and a closer. The only thing I like about them is their middle relief.

Please, no! If the Cubs play the White Sox in the series Yumchah and I would both be rooting for the Cubs. This is like the whole matter/anti-matter annihilation scenario.

And Gawd forbid if you and I ever cheer for the same teams.

That'd be like...like...yeah, it'd be cataclysmic.

However, on that note, if the two Chicago teams ever did meet, I'd be just fine if either won. It'd be kinda a yay-aw/aw-yay kinda thing since I'm one of those weirdos that cheer for both Chicago teams.

I think if I am correct Aramis has an out clause in his contract,he may be a free agent this winter. And most likely he'll want 10-14 million per year for 5 years based on what that chump Adrian Beltre(one year wonder) stole from seattle.

Puh-lease. Enjoy the cellar, punk. And who knew Griffey was such a good pinch-hitter after not playing for 3 weeks

And it must be tough being a White Sox fan these days.

Yeah, thank goodness the whole White Sox WS champion thing is over. Cubs are never gonna win one, but at least I dont have them bashing me 24/7.

Scottman, the Reds will be right there with the Cubs watching the games and saturday morning cartoons at home too. For shame

Oh whoa whoa whoa...WHOA.

This is between you and me, bucko. You keep him out of this. I don't need anything from the peanut gallery.

Ol' squirrel-face is already quite smug as it is...I don't need him to toss in his two-cents to the little discussion you and me are having.
