I think the Rumor is he might coach the Yankees if Torre leaves..............not likely maybe Pinella.

Willis was on ESPN radio earlier praising Girardi for being one of the best guys he has ever worked with. He seemed pretty upset about the front office thinking of getting rid of Girardi.

Maybe the METS can grab him if he becomes unhappy in the off season.

This is true. Most likely Girardi will manage the Cubs next year. First order of business: put the last names back on the home jerseys.

That'd be good.

But, I think the franchise is a career black-hole.

yeah i read that too.....except i think Loria's shouting at the umpire involved some explicit words.... which is why Girardi told him to shut up

If Loria gets rid of him he's a retard I heard that he would go to the Cubs, also (although they're obviously a lost cause )

lol..For real I don't understand how poor Dusty hasn't had a heart attack yet seriously though 6 errors last night and 3 by the 2nd baseman who looked like a little leaguer. On the other note, I think Torre did a great job with the team he was dealt with most of the season. Also with Big Papi dumb comments he probably took himself out of the MVP race. Go Jeter Wow last night Matsui going 4-4 amazing and Sheffield may be back next week and poor Melky looking at Torre with sad eyes ...remember me coach

I think the Cubs should pull a hat of the White Sox and hire a great player that played for the Cubs in the 80s and 90s. Come on Cubs hire either Ryne Sandberg, Mark Grace, or Andre Dawson to manage the Cubs!! I think that is the only way they will turn around this sorry Chicago baseball franchise or if the Tribune sells the Cubs.

It worked for the White Sox when they hired Ozzie Guillen, why not the Cubs?

Btw, I'm not sure if the White Sox can pull it off and defend their title in the playoffs. Jenks and McCarthy suck.

How about Abreau last night, 6 RBIs in the first.

Now, did he really make the team that much better since being acquired? (Yanks got the best record in the AL now) or do you they could of gotten there without him?

He helped alot, I don't think they would of gotten there without him. I still am a big Sheffield fan and hate to see him go but rather see Sheffield go than Melky Cabrera. Sheffield brings fear in the lineup that they were missing until Abreu because you can't pitch around him or you give Giambi rbi opportunities. The Yanks gotta be the favorite to win since no Boston and no Angels are there in their way.

Former Short Stop Sheffield might be playing first...Craig Wilson will get the bench. What a lineup with Sheff at first and Matsui hitting.

Yeah I heard the same that Sheff will play 1st.

I also hear that Lowell is pretty much gone and Gonzalez and Loretta won't be re-signed. Youk to 3rd, try to sign Lugo at SS, and Peoidra (sp) called up for 2nd?

Girardi might not just get canned for the ump incident. It was reported in the Herald today that Girardi doesn't have the greatest relationship with the GM, Larry Beinfest also. They have trouble exchanging input and Joe isn't very receptive. Also they disagree on personnel moves like the pitching coach or playing certain players. Management had preferred playing young guys while Girardi was playing a vet that had no value. I guess stupid shit that adds up.

I admit Girardi isn't perfect by why ruin a good thing? This team is winning and that's what counts. No baseball manager is going to bring in fans unless we win. This ain't bball with Pat Riley.

And another game lost on bullpen. We're getting to the starters but can't finish the games. Bullpen is the biggest luxury that we can't afford.

Well, sorry...just hope that the ChiSox can overtake them for the Central. Let the Yanks deal with the Twins in the first round.

Can't complain about the Fish, they are leaps and bounds above where they were expected to be. They might have a lot of winning years ahead of them.

Unless the Mets have something to say about it

Unfortunately that can't happen because Matsui is only DH for now and if you put Sheffield at first you lose Giambi. Someone will be losing playing time next week when and if Sheffield comes back. By the way Craig Wilson SUCKS, does he even see the ball when its pitched to him, he swings at everything.

Should be scared of both cause you can't be either the Yanks or the Twins The only Sox pitcher that frightens me is the setup man I think he is a rookie that throws like 100 other than that..nadie

If the Twins make it-------------Justin Morneau for AL MVP,I was reading that a case is being made for Johan Santana maybe winning both Cy Young and MVP since there is no front runner from the AL.

Yanks toughest opponents IMO would be Chisox or Angels if they can overcome Oakland. They handled Detroit this year and should do so Oakland and Minn like every other year

Lucky flip and no one named Giambi on the A's this year. With Thomas and(gulp) Milton Bradley leading the way and Harden soo close.........Don't wish for the A's this year.

Wow...ouch. Just the setup man...

Well, if you look at the stats, both teams have near identical batting averages and ERA (with your Yanks slightly better @ .2ish lower). IMO, the ChiSox played in a much harder division too. So, perhaps the teams are quite evenly matched up after all...

That being said, if you said our setup man scared you, no one on the Yanks pitching lineup scares me to be honest. No one in the rotation is heads over heels better than what the ChiSox can roll out to counter.

Johnson vs. Contreras = tossup
Mussina vs. Beurhle = tossup
Wang vs. Garland = tossup
Wright vs. Garcia = Garcia
Who??! vs. Vazquez = Vazquez

and

Johnson vs. Contreras = tossup

and
Here's why your analysis is flawed:

Santana vs. Contreras = Santana
Bonser vs. Buerhle = Buerhle
Silva vs. Garland = Garland
Garza vs. Garcia = Garcia
Who??! vs. Vazquez = Vazquez

Punto vs. Crede = Crede
Bartlett vs. Uribe = Uribe
Castillo vs. Iguchi = tossup
Morneau vs. Konerko = Morneau
White vs. Podsednik = Podsednik
Hunter vs. Anderson = Hunter
Cuddyer vs. Dye = Dye
Mauer vs. Pierzynski = Mauer
Tyner vs. Thome = Thome

Looks like Twins 4, White Sox 9.....

And yet the Twins are up 2 games, despite losing Shannon Stewart for half the year, Liriano for the last month, Radke for the last 3 weeks, White for 2 months earlier, Hunter for a week playing with a broken ankle now, Guerrier for a month....

The White Sox lost Thome for 3 games and Contreras for 1 start. And they've hit almost 100 more HR's than the Twins. And their closer has more saves....

How can this be???

I'm gonna start a argument, here's my chart for what we all know the season result is gonna be this year

Delgado vs. Giambi=Delgado
Valentine vs. Cano= Cano (but barely)
Wright vs. Arod= Wright
Reyes vs. Jeter= Reyes
LoDuca vs. Posada=Posada
Beltran vs. Damon=Beltran
Floyd vs. Abreu=Abreu
Green vs. Matsui= Matsui
P vs. P= Mets

Looks like Mets 5, Yankees 4
In the NL park, the Mets are the better team because they will have to sit either Sheff or Giambi and bat a pitcher. I gave the win to the Mets pitcher because they get more hitting experiance (bunts, sacrafices, chop swings).

In the AL park it's a different story, the Mets will have to rely on their pitching which I think is more solid all around than the Yanks staff. And you can't even compare the Yanks bullpen to the Mets...Wagner, Heilman, and Mota are lights out.
