Oct 6 There is no progress to report in the salary negotiations between Boynton and the Bruins, reports the Boston Globe.
Recommendation: Team owner Jeremy Jacobs said he wished Boynton was in the lineup but doesn't believe the team's position is wrong: "Nick has a history and you have to realize where he's coming from. He didn't [elect to] go through arbitration and he is sitting out right now. To me, it's not smart." For those who don't remember, Boynton was drafted by the Caps and sat out an entire year of hockey rather than sign with them. "I know we're on the right side of this, but time will tell really whether or not we do get him in," continued Jacobs. "He could play an important role with this club. We'd like to keep him."
Should I drop Boynton or not?

Toronto Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin has a fractured lower orbital bone and could be out four to six weeks after taking a puck in the face in last night’s season opener, the Leafs said today.

With Khabibulin in the nets how so? Aucoin, LaPointe and Cullimore will give us some veteran experience until the youngins' develop.
We may not be winning a Cup this year, but we're heading there.

I've always liked him. Consumate team guy and many fans here feel that he was one of the very few who ever laid it out every night during the past few years.
THe knock on him is that he's a solid goalie but not strong enough to win a Cup, possibly damaged goods after his hip surgery. My perspective is that he's never played on a team that had even the slightest chance of succeeding in the playoffs much less contending for the Cup.
My kids (both travel hockey goalies) were upset when he was traded and have said that when the 'Hawks play Pitts, they're cheering for T-bo.

Doh.. Don't get me started on him......... Damn you...
He literally looks like a penguin on ice flopping around on his belly.. I can't stand him and wish him to be gone.. He was on his back and stomach more then he was on his feet.
I went to the Penguins camp and preseason games... Worst mistake ever..
Fluery looked like the best player in camp Hands down, not just the best goalie, and without a doubt should be starting.. A couple people around me at the games were saying things like he looks like he's playing on carpet.. He was moving around, going down and getting up flawlessly.. He looked so smooth it was unreal.. He was soo sound and his positioning was awesome..
But the Pens want to save money and he is now on the minor league squad.......

I'm really really hoping he's just been nervous and will settle in..
I'll be at the home opener Saturday and see him first hand so hopefully I can get a better read on him..

way too early to tell. but lets hope
If things go REALLY well, we may even have to start keeping records differently. There will be the old era records, and the new era records.

Fly boys are back tonight! I'm not sure if I like some of these rules in the new system though. I don't think the playing the puck by goalies was really an issue, so I don't think they should have the trapezoid behind the net.
Other rules I dont like are that you arent allowed to use your stick to fling yourself forward off another man, the excessive interference calls, and the penalty for putting the puck into the crowd (I think there's going to be instances where accidents happen and the guys get called for it).

But as I said, the season is still young.

Season is still young but I said the Pens were overated back when they made all those signings. They still have no defense and the Mario injury hasn't come yet....but it will.
