Well, tonight's where all the bloody hype and "positive" stuff about the Hawks either becomes reality or becomes fluff...well, at least it starts.

Hmmm...I hope Zubov comes back soon. At least I sorta fixed my D-line issue by picking up Seabrook and Zubov (for when he comes back in a couple weeks)...I think.

Malkin: I'm No Radulov...
Oooo...burn!
From Edmonton Journal...
From Edmonton Journal...
I was away all day in Calgary, but came back to get this email from Peter Adler, a.k.a Uncle Pedro, the Euro-hockey expert:
Yes, Metallurg Magnitogorsk WAS offering Evgeni Malkin $11 million U.S., but he told them to forget it ... In a wide-ranging interview with the Russian Sovetskii Sport publication, Malkin said he told Metallurg he had a new, valid contract with the penguins, and "I'm not Radulov."..
Asked about the assistant captain logo he now sports, he smiled: "Coach Therrien came up and said I should be wearing it ... I said I wasn't sure about my English, and he told me you have to start one day, might as well do it now."
His english is improving, Malkin said, but he wouldn't dare try a major one-on-one interview yet ...
He's buying himself a house in Pittsburgh, Malkin said: "I can't be hanging on Sergei Gonchar's back for ever ... Besides, this would allow me to bring my parents over, my girlfriend, too ..."
Speaking of the girlfriend, after a summer vacation in paris a year ago, this time, the two went to the Maledives ...
"It was unbelievable, just enjoying the beach, going fishing ... Yes, I released each and every fish I got ..."
The goal for this season? "To make the last step we stumbled upon when we got there last season ... Detroit's good, but so are we ..."

Just saw my first full game of the new look Leafs. The top line is an absolute disgrace. Antrapov has some upside but Ponikarovsy and Blake are terrible. Blake's on-one-knee fist pump celebration after his 2 foot goal when losing 5-0 was just embarrassing, especially when they were being dominated in all aspects of play.
I didn't see too many positives out there.

I'm really liking Luke Schenn's attitude, for a starting draft pick he's really proving his worth with both talent and the nuts to stick up for his teamates that are too much of pussies to stick up for themselves.

Fuck, I hate Jason Blake's game. At least he isn't taking weak wrist shots from impossible angles anymore but he still stinks. Its hard to believe that this guy once scored 40. He's dead weight out there.

Like when he dropped the gloves on Saturday when Stajan got hit from behind. No hesitation. He will develop into a really good player.

Blake's way past his prime, he needs to be cut. Toskala needs to learn to control rebounds he's getting murdered by it.

JMFJ out for at least 3 months
Sources tell TSN that L.A. King defenceman Jack Johnson is likely to miss as much as three months as a result of what appeared to be an arm injury suffered in last night's loss to the San Jose Sharks.
The injury occurred in the first period on Sunday although Johnson did go out for one shift in the second before leaving the game.
Sources tell TSN Johnson is expected to undergo shoulder surgery later this week.
The 21-year-old played in 74 games in 2007/08 but missed the last seven with a fractured right foot. Johnson scored three goals with eight assists and was minus-19 for the Kings last season.
The Kings acquired Johnson along with Oleg Tverdovsky from the Hurricanes for Tim Gleason and Eric Belanger in September of 2006.
He was originally drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round, 3rd overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Cherepanov collapses on bench, dies at 19
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/s...e=NHLHeadlines
New York Rangers prospect Alexei Cherepanov collapsed on the bench during a game Monday night in Russia and died later. He was 19.
"We are extremely saddened by the tragic passing of Alexei," Rangers president and general manager Glen Sather said in a statement. "On behalf of the New York Rangers organization, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family. Alexei was an intelligent, energetic young man, with tremendous talent and an extremely bright future."
Cherepanov was the Rangers' first-round pick, 17th overall, in the 2007 draft.
Avangard Omsk head coach Wayne Fleming said Cherepanov collapsed during the third period Monday night. Fleming said he did not see anything on the ice that could have contributed to the collapse and said medical personnel tried to get Cherepanov's heart beating again after it had stopped.
