The Avs are already a very explosive team offensively. So they'll be much better off by adding another skilled forward. As Yumchah mentions, the Av's goaltending & blue line still is lacking. Let see, the Avs up front already have:

It looks like the Avs are trying to outscore everyone in the Northwest division with these top 7 forwards, which won't be too hard to do considering that Calgary, Vancouver, & Minnesota are all trapping teams.

Of course. But that doesn't mean the they don't want to win. Bottom line is that winning makes them more money. That can't be argued. They may not be distraught that the Leafs haven't won the cup in 41 years but I doubt their sitting back and counting their money, having a good laugh. They realize there haven't been playoff revenues for 3 years now.

And like Jonsei said, its not as if there at the bottom end of the cap. Nor were they at the bottom end when there was no cap. They have always spent to the max which to me means they want to win.

Sure they hired the wrong people along the way but their spending habits more than prove they want a winner.

Richards is incredibly overrated and incredibly overpaid. 7.8 mill per year for the next 4 years gets you a -25 and 50 some on points. No thanks.

Nope...I think T-Bay got fleeced as well. They get Halpern (3rd line winger), and Jokinen (4th liner and shootout specialists). I hope Mike Smith turns out to be the 2nd coming of Marty Turco...otherwise this will be penned as one of the most lopsided trades in the NHL.
