The Avs are already a very explosive team offensively. So they'll be much better off by adding another skilled forward. As Yumchah mentions, the Av's goaltending & blue line still is lacking. Let see, the Avs up front already have:

Sakic
Smyth
Stastny
Wolski
Forsberg
Svatos
Hejduk

It looks like the Avs are trying to outscore everyone in the Northwest division with these top 7 forwards, which won't be too hard to do considering that Calgary, Vancouver, & Minnesota are all trapping teams.

@ Nick Kypreos' comment that Malkin could be traded...

Is that guy on fumes...?!? That or one of those concussions is kicking in...

Dan Boyle also resigned. I think it was 6 years at $40M. The word is, Tampa is trying to move Richards but he has to waive a no trade contract.

Just read on ESPN that the Hawks have put in a bid for Richards.

Personally, I think Tallon should be after Jokinen instead.

That is retarded. Boyle is a good offensive d-man...but, he's not Lidstrom-money. Wow. That deal is dumber than the one they gave Richards.

At Malkin being traded.

I can't believe they gave the Leafs a 5th round pick for that stiff.

Of course. But that doesn't mean the they don't want to win. Bottom line is that winning makes them more money. That can't be argued. They may not be distraught that the Leafs haven't won the cup in 41 years but I doubt their sitting back and counting their money, having a good laugh. They realize there haven't been playoff revenues for 3 years now.

And like Jonsei said, its not as if there at the bottom end of the cap. Nor were they at the bottom end when there was no cap. They have always spent to the max which to me means they want to win.

Sure they hired the wrong people along the way but their spending habits more than prove they want a winner.

Richards is incredibly overrated and incredibly overpaid. 7.8 mill per year for the next 4 years gets you a -25 and 50 some on points. No thanks.

So the Habs are going with Price?

Nope...I think T-Bay got fleeced as well. They get Halpern (3rd line winger), and Jokinen (4th liner and shootout specialists). I hope Mike Smith turns out to be the 2nd coming of Marty Turco...otherwise this will be penned as one of the most lopsided trades in the NHL.

Who knows?

Getting rid of that 7.8 mill cap hit was enough.

The Habs trading Huet has me doing a

Do they think Price is the next Roy? For a team looking to go deep into the playoffs, their putting all their eggs in the rookies basket.

'The latest rumor is Chris Kelly or Antoinne Vermet along with Christoph Schubert and Nick Foligno to Atlanta for Marian Hossa and Kari Lehtonen. Martin Lapointe to Ottawa is already confirmed, but they are also in talks with Chicago and/or Washington to get a goaltender."
Funny how quickly the Sens forget about the lack of Hossa's playoff productivity. The reason they traded him in the first place was because he would dissapear come playoff time.

So, I hear that TSN's trade deadline broadcast is run with Barnaby, JFJ, Milbury, and McKenzie...

Am I the only one having a hard time taking TSN seriously...?

Are you mentioning McKenzie as if its a bad thing?

I agree about JFJ and Milbury and after watching about an hour or so this morning I can safely say they add next to nothing to the show. Their pretty bad actually.

But like I mentioned in an earlier post, Barnaby isn't too bad.
