All of the above. I was thinking about Florida's layoff as well, just wasn't sure how long it was. All I'm suggesting is that IMO the outcome (score at least) would have been different if both these teams were playing at their peak.
Long layoffs, or short ones for that matter affect teams differently.

So OSU had a longer layoff, but still. It hardly seemed like they were there. They had a few moments of scoring, but their offense hardly produced anything. Florida looked confident, but not snobby, and played well both offensively and defensively. The offense was coming up with so many different plays that OSU had never seen. OSU was simply OWNED!

Another great fact 6 of the last 7 (now 7 of last 8) underdogs have won the game.

Most likely although Florida did have their best game of the season. I doubt Boise State could beat more than 2 of LSU, Auburn, Florida, Arkansas and Georgia.

I just don't think you can claim that a team coming off a 37 day layoff has a huge advantage as far as being sharper than a team on a 51 day layoff.
My take is that OSU got revealed as a fraud...a typical overrated Big Ten team...too slow and too white. All of OSU's so called big wins, were shown as devalued by the time the championship game came along...the Texas win was a *good* win, but not as good as it seemed at the time. Michigan got rolled by USC and that was their only other decent win. I am just glad that Michigan didn't get the rematch cause then the winner of that game would seemingly have a a good win and a legitimate claim to the national title.

would any of you guys actually (literally) cry over a lost of your team? They showed OSU fans crying and all choked up and shit like they were watching a family member getting tortured or something...

I just have a hard time believing that OSU is THAT bad. Just my opinion, maybe your right about the Big 10 being overated. But it wasn't even close. Then again it may all be in the coaching. You'd of think OSU would have tightened up there seconday coverage and try and stop those 5-10 yard passes, they didn't. They were lost out there.
All those missed tackles, lackluster effort and an O-line that couldn't block if there life depended on it was also a sign IMO of team that wasn't ready to play.
Either way, FU deserved the win.
And I want a playoff.

Can't say I've ever cried over a football game. OSU fans outnumbered Gators 7 to 3.
EDIT: so I'm sure the stadium was quiet
I'm surprised Boise State still got one vote for first. I seriously doubt BSU could beat any of the top four teams. But yes, I would love to see them try in some sort of +1 or playoff system.
I'll admit OSU is a much better team than what showed up last night. The time off factor is something the coaches are supposed to compensate for. They should keep them focused & hungry. If you watch the two teams run out OSU looked unemotional while the Gators were jumping up and down. Also OSU had two personal fouls on the first two offensive drives for UF.
It's a great year to be a Gator. 100 years of football, 10 year anniversary of last national championship, SEC champs, and both basketball & football national champions.

The caption under that picture read "We paid $1000 to watch our team get their asses kicked when we could have done that for free at home".
Florida deserved it, THE Ohio State University deserved it, too. Ginn hurt his ankle celebrating that kickoff for a touchdown right? Next time try to stick to playing the game - all this celebration crap (more specifically at the pro level but it seems to be seeping into college) pisses me off for some reason. You scored, point made.
I just feel better cuz my team (A&M) wasn't the only one in bowl season to be beaten to a pulp.

The current BCS system sucks.
NCAA should either stick to the old traditional bowl games or switch to playoff.

a bunch of his teamates dog piled him after the score.
btw, I keep seeing crap on ESPN for Boise State's case for the NC title. Boise State beat Oregon State, Oregon State beat USC, USC beat Arkansas, Arkansas beat Auburn, and Auburn beat Florida. :ghey:
They all neglect to mention that Florida went head to head with Arkansas and won. Also that Boise State only played one ranked team & won by one point...in overtime.

On a side note, cob do you have season tickets? Or have you attempted to get them? I graduate in May, so I'm hoping to try to get some tickets for next year although all the home games will suck.

LMFAO. I found it funny that UF (yes DOM, it's UF, not FU, lol) made a Heisman Trophy winner look like one of Jerry's Kids. He couldn't run, he couldn't pass, he couldn't even work with his teamates. He was arguing with them all night! It was hilarious.

I doubt one player would have changed the game. OSU's offensive line couldn't protect Smith.
EDIT: reread your post. He could have made a difference and agree it wouldn't have been enough for an OSU win.

Against UGA our Oline just played terrible!

As far as the season tickets go, I haven't had them since I graduated. I'll pick a few games out every year to go to and try to get tickets through friends.

Rumor is we'll see a +1 system in 2010.
for those that don't know what a +1 system is: The top four teams would have a playoff. The #1 team would play the #4 and 2 & 3 would have a game too. The winner of each game would fight for the NC.

I'd love to see that. Although a 10 team playoff with the top 2 getting by's would be even better. Problem is there just isn't enough time in the year for all that. Conferences would have to cancel championship games. I just don't see it happeneing unless they can all be made happy financially.
The 4 team system I would think is very doable though. Its a no brainer.
