yeah i'm serious.. Iowa State had that really good black QB.. too lazy to look him up right now, but he was drafted and was moved to WR although I don't think that worked out too well..
EDIT: I'll look him up.. one sec

In today's news.. Auburn is getting back Tray Blackmon. He's our linebacker and he's going to rip either Leak or Tebow apart. He caused 13 fumbles his last 2 years of high school and is coming off a 6 game suspension.. He is just what our defense needs.. everyone needs to watch our game next saturday night!

I have a problem--whether its Alabama or Auburn--putting the game above the character development of the individual. IF these athletes cannot see how truly blessed they are with their own God-given talents, somethings wrong. Most all of them enjoy some level of fame and prestige in playing before 10s of thousands of people each weekend, are awarded scholarships that give them a free ride through school, and other "perks" too numerous to count.
I am not aware of what caused Blackmon's 6 game suspension, but it must have been pretty bad. A few of Alabama's players were suspended as well. This is sad. IF they can't understand and operate within the boundaries of society and common descency, I say give em the boot the hell out of school. Do that a few times to contentious offenders and it will set an example in College Football that being lawful and "human" is rewarded as opposed to being a THUG!

He was arrested in La Grange, GA for underage drinking, which honestly isn't THAT bad being in college compared to what others do. Tuberville suspended both Sears and Blackmon (prob. our 2 best linebackers) for 3 and 6 games respectively. I think 6 games was a little much, but he also had to do 90 hours of community service or learning about underage drinking.. read the espn article

Woa, that is harsh ! I think ALA boy was carrying a concealed weapon--which, If I am right, is much more "THUGGISH" than Blackmons.
I know "kids will be kids," and do things they are not supposed to do. Everyone makes mistakes, and most of us tend to learn from them. I just think that we need to put development and character of the individual above the game itself.

That's harsh for underage drinking but I respect Tuberville for it, especially since he personally stands to take a hit by doing it. Hey, if y'all ever get tired of him we'd be glad to toss out Franchione and take Tuberville off your hands.

I like Tuberville.. I think he has his bad luck/good luck streaks.. Good luck = onside kick against South Carolina, Bad luck = doing the reverse pass against Arkansas the 3rd play of our 1st drive.. Granted it was probably Al Borgess who called that play. Too bad Auburn has the best record in the SEC the past 4 years

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- After reviewing a sideline-clearing brawl between players from Miami and Florida International, officials from both schools and their conferences on Sunday announced the suspension of 31 players -- 13 from the Hurricanes, and 18 from FIU.
Each suspended player must sit out his team's next game for taking part in the ugly melee that marred the teams' Saturday matchup. Miami plays at Duke on Saturday, FIU plays at Alabama Oct. 28.

There are more penalties coming is what I heard. The ACC has yet to suspend anyone yet, these are just the universities doing what they need to do now. I think a couple players will be done for the season. Especially the Miami player who used his helmet and the other one that body slammed the FIU guy.

Yeah I agree.. I was just stating what I heard on ESPN. I'm sure it's going to get a lot worse than just a one game suspension. IMO Coker will be fired (Edit: After this season)

Ummm, have you forgotten that OSU must still play Michigan? The way our D-line is playing, I like the Wolverines chances to come home with a win from Columbus.
Also, SC looks quite beatable - don't be surprised if they have a loss before the season is out.

I do think USC will lose one game this year, UNLESS they can step it up against Cal & Notre Dame at home. And I really don't know who will win the Ohio State/Michigan game. It should be one hell of a game though.

AP:
Why weren't these "students" arrested? If these were regular Miami students participating in a brawl on campus, they would probably be kicked out of school. Why are these "students" being treated differently? Is Miami even a real university???
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- Shaking her fist for emphasis, Miami president Donna Shalala said Tuesday that sanctions levied against 13 players for their role in a sideline-clearing brawl were fair, justified and strong enough to satisfy the university.
All that, though, came with one big caveat: Miami athletes simply can never fight again, she said.
"This university will be firm and punish people who do bad things," Shalala said. "But we will not throw any student under the bus for instant restoration of our image or our reputation. I will not hang them in a public square. I will not eliminate their participation at the university. I will not take away their scholarships."
Miami officials have enacted a new rule that any athlete who fights will be dismissed from that team, a "new standard ... zero tolerance" policy. That, along with 12 one-game suspensions, one indefinite suspension and orders that all players involved in Saturday night's brawl with Florida International do community service, is sufficient punishment, Shalala said.
"It's time for the feeding frenzy to stop," Shalala said. "These young men made a stupid, terrible, horrible mistake and they are being punished."
Two Miami players involved in the melee, sophomore Anthony Reddick and senior Brandon Meriweather, apologized Tuesday for their roles. Reddick swung his helmet as a weapon, while Meriweather was seen stomping on FIU players.

how often do you see people get arrested for sports brawls?
Am I the only one that thinks the whole miami fight has been blown completely out of proportion? You don't see this kind of action in bench clearing basketball or baseball brawls. Hell the sideline brawl in the NFL this weekend got ZERO coverage.
If you are on a sports team, and one of your players gets in a fight; what are you going to do? I know i'm running into the fight.

If I hear Lou Holtz calls my school University of Auburn one more time he needs to croak and die. How hard is it to realize that we are Auburn University, especially since he coached South Carolina for a couple years! And when gameday was here last weekend Lee Corso called our mascot Albie instead of Aubie 4 times in less than a minute. Those two guys are senile and need to retire!
