If you were truly the boxing fan that you claim to be, you'd know that NOT every boxer is one punch away from being knocked out.
Have you ever watched Evander Holyfield? If Lewis had his chin, he'd be nearly unstoppable.
He's beaten all the quality fighters in his era and now has beaten the monkey on his back, that he hadn't fought Tyson.

Otherwise, why would all these "older" heavyweights still be in the game?
Does Holyfield need to the money? I think not. But he continues to box, despite his critics.

you guys are all silly.
I wish lewis would retire cuz hes a fuckhead.
why shouldnt he retire? CUZ HE DOESNT GET PAID TO RETIRE.
think about it? Whats more important to you? Your legacy (which who cares cuz everyone hates him anyway) or getting millions of dollars for an hour in the ring twice a year.
Even if your worth 50 million... 20 million is still a good addition to it

I'll go with Barrera. I love boxing and work out at Baltimore Boxing several times a week. If everyone would take a step back from their "opinions" and look at the facts and the sport of boxing then a lot of what was said earlier in the thread you'd realize is BS and wishful thinking. I'm tired of hearing people lament the Tyson of 1990. 1990 is long gone and so is Tyson's prime. He's younger than Lewis but Lewis is in his prime. I wouldn't say Lewis has a glass chin... that's going a bit too far.
He's a "Boxer". If you know anything about boxing you know that KO is not the only way to win fights. Points count, you can't win if you don't punch. I read that the punches landed was something like 193 for Lewis and 42 for Tyson. No matter what it was, that's BOXING. Beat him with points and if all the "points" turn the guys lights out then you win by KO.
Simple as that. Tyson was never a boxer. He hit hard and with precision and yeah, that's cool, he won a lot and was fun to watch. However, he didn't fight a lot of top rate fighters either and even those people who LOVE him admit that he does not "box" in the classic, skillful, technical sense..
Y'all don't want to hear that anyhow.....

I like to see good boxers box but I say Lewis and Tyson can retire now (they won't) and let the heavyweight class re-invent itself with some of the new fighters.
Of course.... I could really care less about the Heavy class, too boring to watch. Usually its two big guys who are winded after the first 6 rounds and just thump on each other in slow motion.
Welterweight, middleweight, featherweight.... now THAT'S good boxing. Let the hands fly! Nothing like seeing a fighter with punishing strength shoot off punches with blinding speed... for 10 straight rounds!
The fighter sees the opening... sets up and takes the shot and the opponent is going down before most viewers even register that a punch was thrown. That's boxing at it's best.

i hate fucking lewis with a passion! i wanna shoot that fag everytime he says '' i showed him the sweet science of the sport''. this is all a big scam. we will see a rematch and all you boys watch...tyson will win. i just wish any american would beat his bitch ass. the guy rahman that knocked his ass out gave him another fight so if tyson wants another go round, lewis should know how that feels and give him one

roy jones needs to do some serious "chicken moves" to win this fight.
did you see the 2 fights on show time last night ?
Cotto almost got knocked out - but he prevailed -
Samuel Peter lost to Wladamir Klitchsko's Jab, despite having knocked him down
2 times in one round and once in a later round.
in the twelpth (sp*) round, peters actually got knocked off balance.
Hopkins will lose to jermain taylor AGAIN (prediction).
i want to see Zab fight pretty boy Floyd.
also - Chico Coralles fight will be AWESOME again.
im looking forward to seeing Ricky Hatton fight, Jermain Taylor fight (other fights
than hopkins), also want to see Winky Wright fight. Ricardo Mayorga is back so
we should be seeing some more of him - which is exciting.
any other boxing fans besides slayer ? ??

I also am going with Jones on this one. I have to say I was impressed with the Taylor but I think jones is going to be to hungry for this one. The only thing I really have in question is if jones has lost his Chin.. Because the last two times he lost he got KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT....

I
Can't wait for the Traver - Jones fight.
W.Klitschko went down three times on Saturday.
Vitalli against Rahman should be a good one too. I hope Vitalli lands some good ones.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jones lasted less than 4 rounds. He's simply a shell of his former self. Happens to the best of 'em (this year alone, Bernard Hopkins, Kosta Tzyzu, Mike Tyson, Erik Morales, Arturo Gatti, Felix Trinidad, etc.). He's a split second too slow but that's a huge difference when you're trying to hit and avoid getting hit. Tarver has the confidence and the valuable ring-time (faced Glenn Johnson in two very rugged fights this year) whereas Jones did a lot of teleprompter reading and blinking on the HBO telecasts.
The Klitschko/Peter match was exciting only because everyone knew Peter was trying to land one punch and Klitschko was "running/clutching" but making effective use of the jab. Peter really never hit Klitsch full-on (two of the knockdowns resulted from: 1) punch/push behind the head; and 2) pull down). I think Emmanuel Steward really showed what makes a great trainer legenday. His entire gameplan was executed well and it really frustrated Peter. Peter looked like a latter-day Tyson since he was lunging and looking for one big shot. The guy definitely needs to improve his skills and throw combinations. Should've worked the body more ... ever heard of double hooks? So Peter could possibly upgrade his trainers.
Cotto/Torres fight was one of the best of the year. Just a brawl. Both guys could've won the fight by KO but Cotto had bigger cojones at the end. Both came in undefeated but it was obvious that the quality of prior opposition was greater for Cotto and it would only be a matter of time before Torres ran out of gas. But judging for the performance, if Cotto fights Mayweather, he'll be destroyed.

roy jones is controversial.
he faught "his best" (which i dont really think is his best).
yes he stuck out his tongue, that was a little silly.
but we all know roy jones to be a cat-like fighter.
hes quick and relys on sly moves.
hes outta tarvers league.
changing gears-
my wire is coming off this friday - if everything is going right
AND ILL BE SOCIAL FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2 WEEKS WATCHING THE
CC JJC REMATCH , SO PSYCHED !!!!!
cotto will get 0wnd by Pretty Boy - i agree...
give Zab Judah a chance @ Floyd- he might lose , but it'll be interesting.
zab FUCKED UP corey spinks - and it was entertaining.
roy didnt entertain well enough for me, but he faught smart - and threw too little
too late, what can you say , he faught 50+ fights in his pro-career
held belts in multiple classes, whipped james toneys ass ( who looked good saturday
as well on SHOWTIME w/ gwynn i think it was, Chris Byrd was on too ) and just
had a hell of a career. I take my hat off to Roy Jones Jr. for fighting the fight
(showing up) - wasnt worth 50 bucks though , all the under cards SUCKED - -
besides Matt Minto whipping that Vinny guy up with like 11 left hooks to K.O. him.
as far as entertainment goes - the heavy weight division is lacking.
everything underneath heavy weight is pretty much busy and will be busy for a
while -
I want to see a rematch of Marco Antonio Barrerra VS. Manny Pacquiao.
Also would like to see Ricky Hatton fight Miguel Cotto (which will be the proof of
whether or not puerto rico is a champ or a chump).
Hopkins is gonna make this next fight tough for Taylor , but Taylor is ready.
my moneys on Jermain.
