Going to this on Saturday. Former Chicago Bear Allonzo Spellman will be fighting that night. Should be interesting to watch. If you flip through the rules, seems like all the rules are the same as UFC except no elbowing/forearms while on the ground.
anybody recognize any of these guys' names?

Me and a buddy saw Spellman at a club like 8 yrs ago. Very large man. ![EEK!](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I was watching Pride today. Damn am I behind. I saw the Dan Henderson/Nogueira fight. WTF, Welter vs HW. Well it was a great fight. Dan kept escaping Nog's blackbelt BJJ holds. It was amazing.

The night was pretty good. The fight card had 7 or 8 fights, but there ended up being 14 fights. It started at 7:30 and didnt get out of there until about 12:30. Long night of fight watching. There were actually 2 fights in the stands. There was one guy passed out on a chair that puked all over. 2 people were carried off on stretchers. It was a crazy night.
Now to the fights. Some were active, some were to the point of falling asleep. I dont hate on ground games, but it was so boring, the ref kept standing them up every 20 seconds. There's no elbowing when on the ground, due to illinois state law, so I was upset about that. I would scream out, elbow him, and people would look at me like i'm crazy.
Bob Shrider (sp), 50 something years old fought some 20 yr old and got knocked the hell out. Bob I guess fought and beat one of the gracies back in his prime, but that was like 20 yrs ago. This kid knocked bob out and a stretcher had to come in, but they didnt carry him off. It was like watching my grampa out there.
The Allonzo spellman fight SUCKED!!! All they did was stand around. When it went to the ground, they never really punched. It was like they didnt know what to do. The crowd boo'ed like crazy. Allonzo won in decision. I actually took a 15 min vid of the spellman fight, but deleted it due to it being really boring.
I have a ton of pics, so tonight I'll send you guys a link to all of them.

That snowman/maniac fight sucked. I was ready to punch my hand through the tv last night. So boring and I'm glad the crowd got on them for it. 3rd round was the best of the 5 and the snowman took it. Other then that, :fallsasleep:
GSP/Hughes. I called GSP all the way like a month ago. I knew he was gonna come back from his injury, think about that loss to hughes last time and just kick some ass. he did just that. What an athlete GSP is. He can do everything.
Hughes didnt look himself. I didnt see too many attempts to take pierre down. Maybe he wanted to surprise GSP with his improved standup striking, but it didnt do shit for him. Overall, I was happy with that fight.
Vera.....when the fuck are they gonna give him a title shot?!?!? He deserves one!!

He needed to retire after the cycle accident. The doctors said he was lucky enough to even walk again. I give him credit for trying to come back, but man, he's not getting any better. He either needs to start fighting some lower ranked opponents or just retire.

Little late to this but didn't it look like Deigo kneed Riggs while he was down?
I haven't seen a decent replay but looked almost like a cheap shot.
Still.....Diego has pretty good skills and he probably would've won the fight regardless.

mmaweekly.com says he signed and he's fighting
"There is always speculation regarding “the big announcement” leading up to an Ultimate Fighting Championship pay-per-view event. Well, for UFC 66, headlined by Chuck Lidell vs. Tito Ortiz 2, there could be multiple announcements. The UFC’s parent company, Zuffa LLC, has been busy purchasing other companies of late, the World Fighting Alliance (WFA) and World Extreme Cagefighting among them, but it will be the fighters acquired that garner most of the attention.
The biggest of those announcements is expected to be the UFC’s acquisition of Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, the 2006 Open Weight Grand Prix champion. Sherdog.com reported that Filipovic’s signing will be revealed on the pay-per-view with his first opponent slated as Eddie Sanchez. MMAWeekly sources have indicated that the fight will take place on February 3rd on the UFC 67 fight card, which is already slated to feature two title fights, and most likely Quinton Jackson’s UFC debut.
In addition to the Filipovic signing, MMAWeekly sources have confirmed that Heath Herring has signed a five-fight deal with the UFC. Herring was one of the fighters whose contract with the WFA was purchased by Zuffa. His first fight for the UFC is scheduled for January 25th on a UFC Fight Night card to be televised live on Spike TV. Herring’s first opponent in the UFC will be Jake O’Brien.
At one time Herring was ranked near the top of the heavyweight division, vying for the championship in Pride. The fight with O’Brien will be his first in nearly a year. He last saw action when he knocked out Gary Goodridge at the K-1 Hero’s show in March of 2006.
O’Brien is a strong up-and-comer out of Indianapolis, Indiana. While he doesn’t have the experience that Herring does, O’Brien is undefeated and has two wins under his belt in the Octagon. While he’s no walk in the park for Herring, it will likely be the toughest test yet for the former Purdue wrestler."
