Question for Charlotte area owners

I'm nearing my 105k Maintenance and the stealership here in Columbia, SC wants $1400 to do it. I been price shopping other stealerships near me. Rick Hendrick's Acura of Charlotte said they would do it for about $1000.

My question is: Has anyone dealt with them and how is there service and quality of workmanship?

On another note I kind of want to bring it to them to see if they have any maintenance records from the previous owner. I believe the vehicle was originally from the Charlotte area. I purchased thru an auction company in China Grove, NC.

Thanks in advance!

I like Hendrick Service, but hate their sales.

The Service dept has always done good by me. Good work, on time and on estimate.

My caution to you be to just try to shop a better price if you can. There have been several dealerships the past couple of months with specials for 105k service at around $599 or so.

Also check Honda dealerships. They can do the work and are usually cheaper than Acura service.

Only dealers within a 100 mile radius to me is Augusta-GA, Greenville-SC, Charlotte-NC, Charleston-SC, Columbia-SC. The Columbia and Charleston dealerships are owned by the same person and both want $1400. Augusta, Charlotte, and Greenville were all priced about the same.

I did check with my local Honda dealer and they seem very uninterested about working on the car. They were currently running a "Timing Belt" maintenance package starting @ $599 but couldn't give me that deal due to it being an Acura..... Gave me the run around about ordering the correct parts, labor, completion time, etc.

When I spoke to Jeremy @ Rick Hendrick he was straight forward and seemed very informative.

I've always been pleased with Hendrick's service. Had no problem with their sales, either. If you're set on going to a dealer, you're not going to do much better than $1k unless they're running a special. However, if you're not set on a dealer and you're willing to drive to Charlotte, check out Hondaworks. They're an independent shop(s) that specialized in Honda's/Acura's. Never heard anything but good things, including from a lady I used to work with that I referred to them for her Odyssey. It's also where ACCURATEin had is SC installed.

Ironically, I was just about to ask the same question. The Hondaworks on the northeast side of town has been renamed to Asiaworks. Yesterday, they quoted me 763.97 for the T-Belt package.

If you buy parts, will they do labor only?

A vendor in 3G TL .... Kaleb, sn: wholesalepartsguy, from (??) Prestige Acura .... was doing a group buy on TB parts, incl water pump, for $299.

Would there be enough difference to make it worthwhile to pursue?

That's the question. If you figure book labor time is around 5-6 hours. X $90 per hour, suddenly you're at over $800 on the high end, maybe $650 on the low end. But the installer place won't offer the warranty on the parts.

I also called a shop around me that has been in business for 16 years and has an A+ BBB rating. He quoted me right above $700 and that includes the main seal. I'll have him also do the T-stat and both rollers so it'll be a little higher than that. www.killmanauto.com

I'm making an appt for next Friday.
