I think I know the way he is talking about. My girlfriend lives up in Ramona and she took me a fun way out to Barona from her house. It is a fun road from what I remember. She likes to play the Sex Game, so I was furiously trying to spot cars with missing headlights... Im game for a meet there.

I took my first big step, performance wise, and purchased a jpipe. Went with the altp V2 since it tucks nicely and I can keep my third cat in for smog checks. I should have got this before the CAI.
Do you guys have any tips regarding the install? I've searched the forums and know what to do, but you never know.

As long as you have your 2 primary cats on your engine, that's all the emissions equipment you'll need to pass with flying colors.

Install is pretty straight forward, I would start by removing the little heatshields attached to your 3rd cat and start unbolting the 6 x 14?mm nuts attached to your 2 primary cats and unhook the J-pipe from the metal exhaust flange. Remove the 3 x 14mm nuts on the 3rd cat and remove the J-pipe .. reverse that order for installation.

FYI, 3rd cat doesn't really matter for passing smog. Most smog technicians don't even know our cars even have a 3rd cat. ![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

. If you come across a test pipe cheap, I would pick one up .. it adds a little more sound but no noticeable gains in power. Pre-cat deletes are the real power adders.

I don't know the performance difference between the two, but I assume the differnce will be very small regarding HP benefits. The RV6 V3 does get rid of the 3rd cat, so it's a better option if you don't want to deal with swaping a test pipe in and out of your exhaust system. They did improve ground clearence with the RV6 V3, but I feel the ATLP V2 still has the best clearence. Also, I picked the part up from Marcus and man I can't wait to feel the HP gains for myself.

Alright so I have it in my head for a meet. My plan is to meet somewhere in east county, bullshit for a little while we wait for people, then we can take off for a cruise to barona the back way and get some really good pancit/ asian food at ho mein noodle restaurant up there and then cruise back down. Im thinking about the middle/ end of January. Who's down. I will map out everything as long as 5 people are game.

Thanks for the offers guys. I tried to do it myself, but ran into some issues with faulty tools. Ultimately ended up going to a shop. Funny thing, their pneumatic couldn't break the nuts off too.
Ended up taking the nuts off with old fashion breaker bar.
As for the performance, deffinitely feel a difference.

down for the barona trip, usually free saturdays as well.
acuraintegtl, how big of a difference was it? idk if i should just save up and get the stand alone ecu first then spring for the j-pipe. but i feel like if i go for the JandR stand alone i get get that out of the way, improve engine performance, as well as mpgs.

Hahah, those extensions didn't stand a chance.
I remember breaking the bolts on my J-pipe was pretty difficult, I too resorted to a breaker bar with the shortest extension possible.
J-Pipe offers good midrange / downtown torque with some power up top. It's the best hp per $ mod you can get except for pre-cat deletes.
If you get the JandR ECU, are you considering getting any engine work done? Or just tuning a stock motor? Getting port & polish, new cams, 3.7 intake manifold, bigger throttle body etc) and you'll have one nasty N/A J32. They're speculating that it makes just about 300whp and there's still more room on a tune .. a knowledgeable j-tuner is hard to find.
There's already some dude who's trapping 107mph in the 1/4 mile with bolt-ons, cams and tune .. that's supercharger territory.
PS, he's not even a 6 speed ..

yeah I read that whole thread, I'm planning on doing an NA build. I was thinking about starting off with the JandR because it's the most expensive and make it easier when I pNp and start messing with the engine more. I'm afraid to apply the regrind cams because i've heard both good and bad things about them. I'm trying to add all that i can to the car and be able to keep it's reliability.

I'm down for the Barona meet/cruise, but need to see how it fits into the holiday trips.

Hey guys,
Anyone have a local shop in San Diego that does good cheap work? My passenger headlight is now flickering and then goes dark. I'm looking for a shop that will help diagnose this for me without charging me $200 to just remove the bumper.
Anywhere in the Clairemont, kearny mesa, mira mesa area would be welcome.
Thanks.
