This might come as a shock to everyone, but I think I might start slowly parting out my CL in the near future. I have looked into my finances and a 98' Supra Twin Turbo can come into my hands in a year and a half. I also don't drive my CL that much where it's worth it to be spending insurance on it each year. I have had fun with the car over the past 2 years, but I'm unfortunatly a performance junky, and want to move on to a rwd platform car that holds it's value (Supra) and can be competetively tracked. If anyone might be interested in a few months (Tyler, etc.), let me know so I can think about it.

This will be the new Jacobpockros before you know it:

Think about the future ..

When you eventually move out (not sure if you have already), but insurance on that car is going to be a fortune.

Not to mention, you aren't going to pick one up for under 30,000 unless it's molested or the mileage is high.

If I were you, which I'm not, I would keep the CL-S and save for lets say .. a house, a wife. etc. I would much rather have a cheaper car that's cheap on insurance / maintenance and parts while having money to live my life comfortably.

A non-molested Supra will be 40k. I can keep the car uninsured and unregistered for a few months. I will be able to pay it off a year after ownership. I will also be able to afford a house and wife eventually. I've thought about this for months, and it is going to be definite..

I love the Twin Turbo Supra my friend had a white one back in the day. Nothing like it. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I'm not much older than you, but one thing I can tell you is things change very quickly and things might not go as you plan. If your heart is set on getting a $40,000 car in your early 20s, great .. I guess my priorities are a little different.

If I were you, I would keep the CL-S exactly how you see it now until you have a huge chunk of the down payment and have your parents co-sign the loan to get a great interest rate. First time buyers easily pay 11% + for an auto loan. Realistically, you could probably get $1500 for your current modifications and that would only be a fraction of your down payment.

You could save some cash and get a non-turbo Supra and install a single turbo setup .. that would probably be the most cost effective route and you'd probably get a Supra that hasn't been beat to a pulp.

Just my . \rant over.

I am very aware of what you are saying. I also appriciate your concern over it, as most people would question such an expensive car for someone as young as me. I would be able to put down at least 27k on the car when the time comes, that's without a loan. By that time my interest rates will be a bit better.

If it's on a weekend I would be down, I'm always in the Valley Center area.

Or we could always do a cruise on the coast .. a lot cooler temperature wise.

Me and some of my riding buddies will be up on Palomar Mountain's South Grade. You can roll out there and have fun while the photographers posted up there snap pics of your Acura in action.

Only downside is that the weather may be iffy. 30% chance for isolated thunderstorms. Hopefully it doesn't hit us or passes through quickly.

Here's a shot one they took of me.

Well, I still have my mind set on a Supra, but this might entertain me for a little while. Drove to Irvine today to pick this baby up. Rare, discontinued 2g CL Comptech B-Pipe:

Perfect aside from possibly needing a re-weld on this portion:

I wouldn't have found this if it weren't for Tommy. You rock my friend

I might install it on the CL, or I might keep it stored and resell it for hefty profit in a year or two. Still deciding.

^ It's probably going to give you about 5whp .. good butt dyno for sure haha.

So you're fully bolted now right? How much power should you be putting down?

The B-Pipe doesn't add any power, maybe 1hp at the most. I should be dyno-ing around 250-255whp. I'm not sure if I'm going to install the B-Pipe. I might just hold on to it and sell it for a profit eventually.

Here's my first bike vid. This is just the bottom third of Pally's South Grade. It was the beginning of the day too, so didn't really get on it yet. Enjoy.

not that my words are going to make any difference, but tyler is right..stay away from expensive cars unless u are making ridiculous money and can afford the ridiculous payments AND have enough money to life a comfortable life to do what u want, when u want. im 26, and ive had 9 cars...my past 3 cars have been over $40K, and im finally getting rid of my challenger at the end of the year...its not practical, its retarded, actually... i have a $618 car payment, and i spend over $300 in gas a month, not to mention insurance... for what? to look cool going down the road? that shit gets old, trust me. i cant go anywhere without someone telling me how nice my car is, and yea..that was cool for a while cause i always wanted to turn heads wherever i drive...but now? who gives a shit, honestly.

id rather own a car that isnt expensive to own, that isnt a piece of shit at least..and at least ill be saving HUNDREDS a month to be able to do more fun things, and even save more..

like i said, i know what i said wont change ur mind, cause no one else could change mine when i wanted all the nice cars i had..but its def something to think about.. and things NEVER go as planned, as tyler said. besides cars dont get you pussy, hot girls these days dig nerdy ass dudes who drive hooptys, its a sad, sad fact lol.

I respect your wise advise. To be honest, it is the smarter thing to do, but I want the car more than anything right now, and if I need the money later on, I would have the option to re-sell it for the same price. It holds it's value because it's a rare collector car. With the way I will plan it, I'll be able to afford the payments just fine since I will be able to put 27,000 down.

As for the chicks digging hoopty cars, I have a beater/daily volvo that Tyler and Luis dig.
