Next sunny day Ill take a few shots! Went to HPDE last week and got into the Advanced class! No more instructers!
Thats leaky rattle box Troung sold me is going to become the dedicated Track car. Black stallion is running, but no boost on it yet. Auto TL still has m90 on it, Red Type-S is still the OEM garage queen.
After we settled on the final price including frieght shipping, we texted every week for four months. He kept saying that he would do it next week, and next week, and next week. Understandably, hes a trucker and at the time trucking took off to the moon. His time was deminished to remove and ship all the parts. After, a few months, I just didnt text him the next week. He hasnt texted me since, so I figure he moved on. That is okay, as I will buy another swap kit eventually.
Three weeks ago, driving to Seattle from P-town to pick up a brand new OEM 18x8.5" ASPEC Wheel, brembo brakes, and ASPEC Skirts, the Troung TL engine, stopped. Totally stopped suddenly as my immobiliser cut the engine. Could not restart it, and the main fuse box fuel pump relay was hot and buzzing with electricity. I swapped two like kind relays to deduce if it was the relay, and the same buzzing happened. Not knowing what do, I had my buddy Ilya drive over to me in his trusty J35 Oddysey, sold me the parts and helped me get a tow as my phone was almost dead and I use no apps. Because it was a Sunday, after calling Many tow houses, the tow was $900. I went to pick n pull and bought a main fuse box from an 04 TL. After struggling getting the rear plugs off it started right up.
Not sure what happened, but many things began not working in sequence. Alarm, Driver electrical features, turn signals.. I was driving to the store and the alarm that stopped working suddenly began working. the horn is going off, lights are flashing while im cruising down main road at 45mph. I pulled over and all features worked until I turned the car off to get groceries.
Had to replace the under dash electrical loom as it was ruined by my doing. Got two looms, one automatic, the other 6mt but for an Accord. Ended up spending $1000 for a fresh one from Acura as 6MT looms are like seeing a unicorn.
Heres the culprit. Out of 6-7 recalls for th 3g TL. 2 are regarding the main fuse box for the 2005 models. The copper pin melted/disappeared. This was not a good thing. Fortunately, the Troung TL didnt catch on fire.

Understood. happens.
Good to see you back active on the forums, this place can be dead at times.
Ordered another Sema Muscle machines Acura TL car NIB from Japan a month ago. It was checked at customs.
Ordered a replacement CD player since the one in the Troung TL was broken, and USPS repackaged it in transit and then it became damaged due to almost no interior packing.
The three outdoor steeds(not including the 98 Accord) Still whining! Not removing it The mint steeds in the stable!
Going to put the oem Type-S coils back on the Black 6MT, the BC Coils are for the Troung TL(Race car). Ill be out on the track with it again May 17. Need new EBC Yellow brakes, slotted rotors and Federal Racing
Those boutique Porches will have a harder time flying past me.
Planned to put the Comptech on the Troung TL, but wifey says the Rotrex was faster. As they both are good for track use, Rotrex it is. But first I have to reengineer the Rotrex intake pipe!
I recently built an overhead storage area. Now I store many spare TL parts up there, including a whole J35A8 Engine! Second J35A8 waiting for rods and bearing to be completed. This one is for the mid engine build.
When I visited Troung to buy the Troung TL(for a good price), he had a TL with these pin stripes on it. I asked him about it and he said it was a factory/dealer option. Only seen it one other time on a TL and Always wished to have one for the collection.
Was able to snag a set of OEM in gold and black some time ago
I asked parts guy Tyrone503 about them and he had never seen them, nor could we find them in the Acura Parts system. Anyone have a lead on where we can get these? as they will be highly sought after for period correct parts later on.
The 3rd and fourth straight cut gear whine like a supercharger. Though I am peeved at not having sixth gear due to the brace. 35mph in 5th gear your at about 2500rpm... kinda of silly. May remove the brace and reinstall sixth gear. This isnt a track car. Straight line with turbo on highway is what its for.
Engine runs butter smooth, although I have an intermittent idle that goes down to 600prm and then recovers to 750 every 10-15 seconds after the engine is warm and the lambda fuel map takes over. Not sure if thats because its still untuned.
Does it have to be on a cold engine? Seems kinda sketch doing this with a cold motor. Its also running 10:1 compression now and isnt tuned. So here goes!!
My Silver 2008 Base is 142 units from the last manufactured 3g TL. A few years ago I scavanged unit #612 from 2004. Two days ago, a new 2004(unit #502) TL came into pick n pull. I handrubbingly scampered over to have a looksee. It was cared for with supple leather and rubbers, but smelled kind of off. As I began to check for goodies under the seat, I pulled out a rotten rat. The smell source had been found. It was so rotted out that it no longer weighed anything. I took the good condition front mats with me(including red tails so I can be cool like @rockstar143 w/ Red Stripes), and only noticed the Huge maggots shuffling around in/on the passenger mat when I began loading my toolbox in the trunk of my car. I picked one of them up, and felt like pumba in the original Lion King when he held that huge "Grub" and grossed out simba. I carefully took that mat back and informed the counter people of the rat.
Yesterday I went to another pick n pull to harvest a minty fresh dash. There are four TLs at that Portland location, so I eagerly went to all of them to get the low down. One of the TLs was involved in a side collision and the curtian side airbags had deployed. It smelled a little off when I opened the driver door, but this is TL stuff dammit. So I move over and open rear driver door and see a Huge 12+inch turd in the footwell of the passenger back seat. That thing was so wide I swear he was a peggee! He must have drank alot of milk earlier cause it was awful yellow. I deduced that he must have used the deployed side airbags as curtians to not be spotted and squatted facing the rear window with his feet on the back seats.
This is why we always wear nitrile gloves for these adventures.
^its rather simple to pop it off. Pull door handle, and use key to pry off the cover. Takes a couple seconds. Luckily fob hasn’t died on me. And it broke off for some reason. So I put original back on, and plan to buy another drivers rear door “delete” to use on front door.
@Slpr04UA6 I went to get this CDM part in rush hour and the pick n pull closed. Will try again tomorrow. Gonna start plumbing a bathroom and kithen tomorrow. Should be fun.
Thanks man! Know what would be cool to have? I know its weird, but one of the failed Memory Seat modules that plagued the first 19,000 units of the 3G TL in 2004. I didnt know our leader Ron A had a 3G TL 5AT when it first came out in 2004.
