Thanks! Here is a current night shot. The lady wants lights on the bushes below the window so I might have to put in some more work

My kid faces forward in the seat already...
I'm seriously considering taking her to daycare in the S2000 a couple days a week...she would LOVE that shit.
Reading up on the airbag cutoff and risks involved...

Interesting...looking like there's a risk to diving your kid no matter what and nobody wants to be the person that greenlights anything other than a rear seating position...
but they have caveats.
  • Air bag on/off switches should only be used if your child has special health care needs for which your pediatrician recommends constant observation during travel and no other adult is available to ride in the back seat with your child.
  • If no other arrangement is possible and an older child must ride in the front seat, move the vehicle seat back as far as it can go, away from the air bag. Be sure the child is restrained properly for his size. Keep in mind that your child may still be at risk for injuries from the air bag. The back seat is the safest place for children to ride.

^ Awesome. Though it doesn't say what to do if there is no back seat... Put kid in trunk?

When I open the door to let the dog out is like hell on earth. Feels like it's in the 40s FFS! I swear there are tiny tears in my t-shirts from my nipples.

GS350 F Sport...
I drove that the other day, man I don't know if it was the cheap tires but the ride was terrible...twitchy and vibrations

Yeah, sitll haven't put the baby in...reading up massively on it...they say there have been 180 incidents to date where the airbag has killed the passenger...
a handful of those were with rear facing seats. The problem is everything is a cover your ass type of thing in this case where the blanket response is "don't do it"...
Some say the airbag is fine because kid is in the forward facing 5 point harness which won't allow them to go crashing into the airbag from too close a distance anyway.

Have you considered just unplugging the airbag? Apparently, its underneath the lower passenger side dashboard trim and easy to get to.

Don't be a dumbass.

It's literally an explosion into the face of whomever or whatever is sitting there.

And given Honda's recent "issue" with airbag initiators... I wouldn't chance it for any significant distance. Especially if I had three other cars/riding lawnmowers to choose from.

yeah, that's basically where I'm at.
I guess I am curious why she's so much safer getting into a bad accident in the back seat or getting t-boned in a different car.
My point is there is an inherent risk associated with putting our small children into a car regardless.

It's not because it has to be done...but I know SHE would love it and it would open up my world to be able to take the drop top whenever I wanted.

Dave, I'd heard pulling the fuse is a bad idea because then you'll forget when someone else rides in the car.
Either way, I know wagon is right...just trying to make an informed decision.

The front airbag is designed to explode straight back into the front seat. It's like a mule kick too the face, intended to stop forward motion in a very abrupt manner.

The side and rear airbags are minutely slower and are for protection and not necessarily motion stopping. It's all F=mA along with a healthy dose of calculus to account for angle of incidence.

That's why they say the back (and back middle is the best) I'd the safest.

Take her around the block and it's probably okay. Introducing other traffic (especially Floriduh man drivers) and your risk goes up.

Although, after seeing some of your neighborhood hoonage videos...

I wouldn't chance it J. In the event that something were to go wrong, you'd hate yourself for even thinking about it. The fact that this is weighing on you so much is a good enough reason to pass on this idea until the little one is older.

Yeah, I think if I can get something to shut off the airbag with a switch, I'd feel okay with it.
I wouldn't hoon that crazy with littles in the car.
I appreciate your concern and posts, sincerely.
