You guys are too much....

Im actually moving out there in a month and am going to do the Texas mile next year. Thankfully C5 and C6's are the ONLY convertibles allowed to join the Texas mile without a roll bar installed.

I've only done 120 mph in mine, and that was on the dragstrip. I would LOVE to do the Texas Mile.

And yes, the V is probably the best American sports sedan, ever. Here's the shocker, though.....it's perfectly reliable so far. Talk to me when I've got 50k miles on it....but so far, it's only been to the dealer for oil changes. I'm now within earshot of 14k miles on this car. We've got guys on the V forum with double those miles, and no problems.

CTS-V at the dragstrip tonight...and I sucked (high 12's)--click with time slip showing 112 mph at 1/4 mile......I started braking finally at a bit over 120 on that run.

I'm planning on going back in the next two weeks.

"Glass" diffs were a problem with with 1st gen V. GM gave us a TOUGH rear diff this time. No one on the V board has had a broken diff in a 2nd gen V (2009-up).

I'm sure you will do better the 2nd time out and with more miles now on your CTS-V. 1st time I hit the track in my Vette I was running mid-high 12s and I couldnt get traction for my life (it was a cold night). 2nd time I went out, I managed to improve my best time by ~0.4 sec to run a 12.12 !

Once again, best of luck with the CTS-V and let us know how it goes the 2nd time out

If there is a point of getting 172mph instead of 150 (or even 130) I don't get it. Pointless.

The whole point of the Texas Mile is your top speed at one mile. Don't think there's any point other than that.

The whole point of this is to see how fast from a start one can achieve in the 1 mile.

How do you feel about 1/4 mile racing? Whats the point if you do a 10, 11, or 12 sec in it then??.

So basically you're saying what's the point of any instrumented straight line test?

What's the point of running 12s instead of 15s?

I mean WOW @ that comment. Wow.

You may have took it the wrong way. I think he meant no one should really be going that quick anyways, or simple he doesn't care about speed, who knows lol.

Well quarter mile traps above 80 could then be considered pointless too since no one should go that fast legally either, right? LOL

I can imagine the V is damn composed at that speed.

I don't think you can go that fast on the West Side without attracting LEO attention. The OHP targets that area pretty aggressively. I did a burst at 100 once but generally keep it at 80 or below (usual traffic flow on 480 on the East Side where there is less LEO activity).

It was certainly composed at 120 mph. In fact, 120 felt like 80 in another car. The speed really comes up on you fast in this car....so much so that you have to follow the old advice of pretending that you have an egg between your foot and the accelerator.
