Power steering pump

Made the mistake of when I was doing some regular maintenance on my 2001 Acura TL (317,000) of putting Prestone synthethic power steering fluid for Honda in my reservoir. Lesson learned! Now I need to replace the power steering pump. I drained all the Prestone fluid out but in the cold weather you can smell it burning.

Anyway, researching replacement pumps, seems on ebay you can buy "new" pumps for less than $60:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/25393159654...m=253931596545

Emailed and the person confirmed brand new, not rebuilt unit. Question, has anyone purchased these supposedly new pumps from ebay and been successful with no issues? Local parts stores want $200+ for rebuilt units, so something is a bit amiss here. Why would you spend $200 on a rebuilt when you can supposedly get a new pump for 1/4 the cost?

Thanks!

It appears to be a Chinese knock off, which, could very well explain the reduced cost.

Just for giggles, search car-part.com for your local area.

Maybe you can find a reasonably priced low mile OEM one from a salvage yard that is similarly priced.

Picking up a used one from local salvage that came off a 2002 TL with 80K miles for $25. Figured that is a better gamble than trying to buy one off ebay or from local auto parts store which wants $200+ for a rebuilt unit. At least salvage has a 90 day warranty too. For anyone who cares:-)
Doesn't seem to be much activity on this forum any longer on this generation TL.

317K miles and still ticking!!

Worst, case just pick up all the proper seals and rebuild it yourself

Good to hear that the 'salvage yard' idea work out for you.

Besides, remember, it's not necessarily the quantity of activity here, it's the quality of the info.
