Does anyone know what size the Gatorback belt supplied with the Comptech supercharger for the CLS 6-speed is? I think it is 4040252. Can someone verify this please. There is a thread floating around here that says it is a 4040245 and I am pretty sure it is wrong and should be deleted.

 

Mine was a 4040252.

 

There's two different sizes of belts that will work. The larger of the two is sometimes required for the high boost pulley.

The 4040245 is a 24.5" belt. The 4040252 is a 25.2" belt.

Both belts will work with either pulley it just is a pain in the ass at times to squeeze on the 24.5" belt over the larger high boost pulley.

 

Also do not run the Underdrive pulley. I noticed it in your sig just in case you didn't know.

 

Ah, Thanks for the input guys. I have already removed the UR underdrive pulley and replaced it with the stock unit. I have the regular and the high boost pulley and noticed that the used belt I have is the 25.2" belt. Well now we have a good supercharger belt thread that talks about both belt sizes for the HBP and regular boost pulley. I will be using the regular pulley as I do not want a single problem down the road. I have a plethora of supercharger parts. I really got hooked up. I now have a new 24.5" belt I will be using with the regular 4.5 psi pulley. I got it from Summit Racing for $17.

It says its $7.## but they hit you with a $10 service fee or some crap. My belt came for m them with a catalog, a Summit Racing hat, a bunch of NHRA stickers, and an assortment of other promotional nonsense.

 

You won't have a problem running the HBP. Just disconnect your IMRC

 

So you are saying I can run the HBP without any fuel managment or tweak to the FPR. I was told by Comptech that I would have to adjust the FPR to use it. I have no access to a dyno nor would I trust my baby to anyone around here. What should I do? Like I said before, I want tho have this car for a while. Its in perfect condition. How much more power would it make?

 

You'll pick up around 25-35whp with it.

Just adjust the fuel pressure slightly on the FPR. Should be easy to do with your gauge.

 

Why is this anyway?

 

You'll lose boost.

 

Smaller pulley on the crank will reduce the amount of rotations on the alternator pulley in relation to engine RPM. Slower alternator speed = slower supercharger speed = less boost.

 

UR does make a stock size crank pulley that is lightweight. Although I'm not sure you'd experience any noticeable power gains.

I'd much rather keep the stock crank pulley and add a lightweight flywheel.

I dont have a Fuel Pressure guage. What do they cost? Where to get and where would I install it? I will admit that I am a bit of a rookie when it comes to the actual install of the supercharger. I will do some searching and see what I come up with. I am sure this has all been covered before.

 

I don't have one installed yet but this is what I've got. I bought a 1.5" mechanical gauge that I need to install. I picked up this Marshall Industries one for less than $25 from these guys:

I picked up a No. 6AN male to -6AN female fitting that has a 1/8" NPT port. This should go right inline at the fitting that replaced the stock FPR.





Take a look at page 10 of the install instructions for the SC and you'll see where I mean on fitting "D".

This won't help me monitor the fuel pressure as I'm driving but will help me set the base fuel pressure if I need to adjust the FPR.

 

Great. I know the part of the instructions you speak of and that seems simple enough. I guess I need to find a dyno where it can be adjusted. Anyone know of one around here? I would be willing ot go to Houston or Austin if I had to.
