Sorry, yeah I believe he's correct. I was looking at your post on my phone and didn't see it clearly.

But to answer your question.. I think the SS lines are worth it. At only ~$100 for a set, that's ~$25 a corner. The brake pedal feels more firm.

I was more confident braking for sure.

-Head of bolt
-Washer
-Knuckle
-Bracket

Then the caliper slides onto the bracket. That is:

-Nut
-Washer
-Caliper
-Bracket

The caliper is intended to be a friction fit on the bracket. Do not trim the tabs that appear to contact the bracket first. Just tighten the caliper down further. The tabs are there to bite into the aluminum and create a better fit so the caliper doesnt move around.
Thanks for clarifying that. You wouldn't happen to have any pics of how it's assembled would you?

^Did you put the washers on correctly? Maybe take a pic of your set up that way we can tell you if you installed them correctly.

^ The picture you put up was useless, we don't have ex-ray vision to see how it was mounted to the knuckle assembly nor could we see the side view where the caliper mounts to the bracket.

Now you could help someone else out by stating what the problem was and what you did to resolve it, as someone one else might be going through the same situation.

I purchased the Russell SS lines. My brake fluid was low about 8 months later. I checked for leaks and didn't find anything.

I'll pay closer attention to those connections.

Did you get the correct ones? Another member here about two pages back on this thread was advice not to use Russell ss brake line in the 3g tl since something about the flairs are different. He went with xlr8 ones.

It can be leaking from the caliper have someone pump on the brakes and. Look at the caliper while they pumping the brakes

Mine did that for about 3500 miles then they got quiet. If your running ebc red stuff they usually take a while to bed.

That was me. The Russel SS lines do NOT fit the 3G TL. The flares are different so it doesn't create a seal therefore your brake fluid will slowly leak over time. Go with SS lines that are made for our cars. I went with XLR8.

I was commenting on AuthurL's post in this thread (584 & 587). Guess I should of quoted him.

I was giving my testimony that he is probably right and over time (W/out checking your fluid) the Russell SS brake lines could be dangerous. I'm not replacing them, but if I was to do it over again I wouldn't get Russell.

For those thinking or wanting a Rear BBK the 3g guys have a discussion going on and a couple of us have been doing some research

All cars with rear brembos have ventilated rear rotors. These are over twice as thick (9mm vs 20mm). Try to adapt that to a solid disc Honda rotor and you might just drop the pads out of the caliper as they wear down.

So then you might think, lets step to a ventilated rear rotor. Again now the theory of performance comes into play. A vented rotor is gonna be a bit heavier. And as we all know, un-sprung rotating mass is the ultimate enemy of performance. Plus, the rear brakes do so little work on a FWD, it's kinda pointless to begin with.

Honestly, I would still like to see someone put in the effort to put STI rear calipers onto one of these. BTW: The 04-08 Sti caliper is really the best option. The piston is slightly smaller than the TL's rear piston, which makes the prospect of a larger rear rotor more practical.

04-08 TL Rear caliper & Rotor

04-07 STI rear caliper & Rotor

Interestingly, the 2G CRV has a rotor roughly the same diameter as the STI, with the same hub-register, bolt patern and similar install height as the TL. Perhaps if the internal drum is the same diameter as the TL (170mm), these might work on the TL with caliper adapter bracket.

I havent been able to verify but i think the Genesis Coupe with brembos has the Drum in Hub which is a 330mm dia with 20/18mm thickness Looks like the Equus might too

Hey guys well i put on the rl caliper and red stuff pads with the ebc rotors the black slotted ones and the front brakes are stuck.....they are breaking the whole time i test drove the car i took it apart and grinded down the metal on the pads thinking there was not enough space to move back and forth but i still have the same problem....what can it be?

ok i noticed when i lifted the front the wheels would not spin freely in nuetral....
so i took off the wheels and it spinned fine
so i bolted down the lug nuts without the wheel on it didnt spin
so i then took out the pads and it still didnt spin with the lug nuts bolted down on the rotor
I noticed the rotor was hitting the inside of the caliper with no pads
it looks like a washer would push the caliper in wards towards teh center of the car and fix the rotor rubbing issue

Did I tighten the bracket too much or is the bracket shaved down to much or is it the rotor? what do you think

28.4 mm thick rotors.....its too thick (thats what she said) and 13inch diameter barely clear the caliper ....you can see how it has started to wear on the front and back of the rotor

^ From what I was told your suppose to get 05 350z brembo rotors. I don't know of the 06 350z's are the same as 05's. I ran two of these set ups on two different cars without any issues aside from ssquealing brake pads, but that's a different story.

Yeah, iit seems that way lol. I actually got my ebc ones from ebay, but on my last set up I bought them from rockauto.com. If your looking for a cheaper alternative there's a vendor here called brakemotive, they sell all types of rotors at a good price. They have good reviews and plenty of members are running there rotors.

I don't think the wheel bearing is the issue. Where did you get the brackets from? Did you try not over tightening the bolts?
