Hotel suggestions - NYC
Hotel suggestions - NYC
Hi; I'm heading to NYC in mid May on a weekend for a class near the 2nd Ave stop on the F line. Any suggestions for a hotel where I don't have to worry about me and the car. My budget is $150-200 a night including parking.
I don't mind taking public transport to the class if it is convenient (ie on the F line or an easy transfer) and no more than 45 minutes or so away.
Thanks. I'll do the same for you in DC if you need it (and probably get you a discount to boot.)

Ceb if i still had my apt in the city, i'd let you crash with me. it was literally 7 blocks away, maybe one of the CU2 guys has a spare bedroom lol. honestly, anything in the city will be insane. i'd stay in fort lee, nj(thats where i live) at an inn or something. the double tree hotel is good(used to be the hilton). and then take a bus in and subway around the city. it runs all the time. i think last NJ transit bus is 3AM from the city back to jersey. if ya really get stuck, i can pick ya up =P
so overall i'd suggest finding a place in fort lee, edgewater, jersey city,(all in nj) or in brooklyn, and take public transport around.
for others tryin to help, the 2nd ave f stop is 2nd and east houston.

Thanks guys. I was thinking the 'burbs actually. I'm not a big fan of driving in NYC as I've seen potholes big enough to swallow a whole car. To make things even more complicated, this class is actually for my son and my wife suggested that we go along. Then my son's wife decided she wanted to go to, so we'll need two rooms.
Anything on the F line in the 'burbs (or some other line that connects to the F line) that will give me a somewhat affordable hotel with a safe place to leave the car for a few days. Doubletree or the like is perfect.
So my question probably should have been "what city/town has a decent connection to/from that Metro line station?"
'preciate the help and offers.

google nyc transit maps so you can have an idea of train routes near you so you can come up with a plan for you and the family. The only thing that suck is that you are gonna be in an area where its pretty expensive for a hotel/motel stay.Do some research on the area and maybe you can find something cheap you never know.
little advice take 3 ave straight up to 59 street go over the 59 street bridge. as soon as you go over it gets a bit confusing but you wanna go to your the left, almost like a big U turn. You will see at least 5 different motels in a 2 block radius .Im almost certain you can find a decent hotel/motel .The train will be less then 2 blocks away so public transportation will be at your disposal. GLWE I hate the feeling when im traveling with my car and im not 100% sure where she is gonna sleep that night

Your suggesting he stays in NJ?? hes on by LES why would he go to another state alllll the way up and across a bridge when he can stay 15-20min away by train in brooklyn or queens. lol do your self a favor and disreguard the jerzy idea. if you knew, youd thank me..no need to go to NJ. Theres plenty of new hotels around fort green, long island city, and park slope area. go to expedia.
from what i looked at, along the F line, the super8 seems to have the best reviews+cheapest prices and parking. http://www.super8.com/hotels/new-yor...ocal&wid=local
this is where i would recommend in fort lee, and they offer a shuttle(idk how much it is) from the hotel into midtown, subway works well from there. or you can take a 5 minute walk, and take the mexican buses for 2 bucks a person over the bridge, and take trains from there. you can also drive from the hotel about 20-30 minutes to the ferry in weehawken, and take the ferry across into the city, and have your car parked safely in jersey

they each seem to be in the lower $100-$150 range per night per room
Don't stay in Brooklyn unless you want to make friends with bed bugs. Manhattan could be pricey. I say stay here. It's not far from the city and it's clean! Check it out
