Really getting burned out. Will need a break soon. Too little time, so much work to do while the student are on break.

Has anyone ever replaced their hood struts? I'm most likely going to need to replace both of them since it's a pita to hold up the hood while I check dipsticks Any difficulty to it or is it pretty much just unbolt, remove, bolt new one in?

I have a feeling this sort of thing doesn't really differ between Honda/Acura models....amirite?

I would imagine the installation would be fairly simple, unbolt and remove then reverse order to put back in.

As for part interchangeability, I'm not sure. I would imagine that given the dimensions and weight of the hood are going to dictate the correct part. I wouldn't thing that struts designed for a civic would work on a CL/TL. Geometry would be wrong and I suppose they also wouldn't have the load bearing ability for the larger and heavier hood of the TL/CL

Oh no I didn't mean part interchangeability or anything like that (though I wouldn't doubt it if they were, tbh...) I meant the replacement procedure. I can't seem to find it in my service manual. I wonder if there are any good aftermarket struts, too...

and lol I see people driving around with the top down all the time on non-sunny days. I coulda sworn I saw a guy in a convertible classic driving in the rain with the top down yesterday.... I could never see myself in a convertible anyways. 15 minutes of driving and you look like Dr. Emmett Brown from Back to the Future.

^^Wow, turns out they're pretty universal. Don't need OEM struts/supports They're about $90 for a pair at the dealership, but about $40 at any auto parts store or ebay. Glad I found that out before I got swindled...

I guess the only thing on my mind was that the CL has a ridiculously heavy hood, so I just thought maybe I needed something heavier duty.

^ good to know.. just need to invite a person over to give a hand and either swap the part or be a hood holder haha.. surprised the hoods dont have a medal rod to hold it up just seems more economical

In my garage RDX has rod, TL has struts. Rather have the rod so I don't need to replace the struts. Although the RDX has struts (that do fail) in the rear hatch.

I had planned on doing some automotive care and yard work today. Looks like the only auto work I'll be doing today is GT5 on the PS3.

^Net forged?

Pretty much got the commute fiqured out. If I get up when light first comes in the window and leave the house at 6:15am, traffic is relatively light. Then I can take my morning shit while I'm at work and on the clock.

EDiT: Ahh, much better.

Welcome to Portland

Someone recycled my "printing is down" signs.

Ah, da. When printing is down, you can't make signs that say, "Printing is Down."
